Release of new Windows operating system.

I don't keep up with a lot of the computer news and haven't done a search---Is there an upcoming release for a new Windows operating system before long?

The reason I ask I have only recently begun to see Window 7 O.S. starting to show up in sales for considerable mark downs in price. Seems that occurred during the Vista days just before WIN 7 was released.

Looks like Windows 8.

The Windows 8 release date has been shrouded in a cloud of rumors. Most experts expect a late 2011 early 2012 release of the operating system. A recently leaked Windows 8 product cycle chart provides the answers needed to determine the release date of the next Windows OS by Microsoft.

Thanks for the news link. Just as I suspected. My last two computers were ones I purchased on the official release dates of Vista and Win 7. Rather basic units, which is all I need, and were purchased very inexpensively from Office Max. The last (for Win 7) was just a little over $200 for the PC. With the OS selling at $125 I deem it a pretty cheap computer.

This time around I don't have want nor need for a new computer and am satisfied with the current OS so don't think I'll be in the market no matter how cheap Office Max offers them on release date.

That's a pretty old article. The newer announcements don't predict a release anytime in 2011, and have mentioned a non-specific 2012 release. I don't look for it to happen within a year from now.
