Adobe reader update disables HT site for me

OK -- this is really strange, but when I downloaded the new new Adobe reader update, I could no longer access HT site. I could get to the main page, but clicking on any of the subforums didn't do anything. The loading message appeared in the bottom taskbar, but then "done" appeared but I didn't get into the subforum.
Other webpages did OK, including another forum run by vbulletin. Although I noticed everything loaded more slowly.

I did a system restore to a day before I downloaded the update, and I could get in here, but the computer is still running a tad slow.
I'm on a four year old Dell desktop with XP and IE8. Any ideas on what might be happening? Oh, I also did a defrag and deleted cookies about a month ago as routine maintenance.

Clear your cookies out. Some of them are probably corrupted. that is what happened to one of my husbands sights when we cleaned the puter the other day, after we had downloaded a new program.

Ok - thanks. I know how to clear cookies, but how do I clear temp files? Is that the same as clearing the history?

No temp and history are different. Just go to the control panel and bring up Internet Options. There is where you choose to clear them all at one time, or click which ones you want to clear out.
