Facebook message redirects to Romania

My facebook account alerts me by email whenever there is a message for me. I got an email that my brother has sent me a message on facebook. That's unusual in itself, he and I have never exchanged messages on facebook, we always email each other directly.

I click on the link in the email and after an attempted redirect, Norton warns me not to continue as the site has been identified as a malicious site.

Considering that my brother never contacts me that way, that Norton warns me not to access that site, and that my FlagFox add on tells me the site is in Romania. I decided to accept Norton's recommendation.

Not quite certain where the info came from to create this problem. Somehow they had to discover who I reported as a sibling on facebook and what my current email address is.

Come to think of it, a few weeks ago I got a supposed facebook alert about a facebook user wanting to share a picture with me. The odd thing was that it was my older email address, which I did not share with facebook.

There are enough places where either of my email addresses can be found online without hacking. I suppose that I'm supposed to visit the site(s) to which I'm being redirected so that my system can be infected for malicious reasons.

This may sound like an unrelated question, but did you update your Adobe Flash recently? The reason I ask is that it sounds like you've got the Koobface virus, which installs by your authorizing a bogus Flash update, which appears very genuine.

Thanks. You may be right. I believe that I did upgrade Flash recently. I uninstalled Flash (which may not help) and am following the instruction in "the basic steps for removing spyware." When that is all done I'll run through the procedures to remove Koobface too. It may take me several days to finish everything as I'm a little busy right now.
