Yes, there are a number of ways to list to music.

1) Most normal Radio stations have it set-up so you can listen to their programs / music through their website.

Whether you know the "call letters" (WRAD, XYZA, etc) of your favorite station or not, you can look them up / or any radio station by doing a Google search for "radio stations, your zip code" or "Country music, radio stations, zip code" will give you just the type of music you like.

2) Some internet providers (IP's) like AOL, offer a "Radio button" somewhere on the top "toolbar" of their main page. As many problems as AOL give people, it's nice because they offer a basic XM radio included into the monthly cost.

3) There are online radio stations like http://www.pandora.com/ You don't have to pay, and I wouldn't pay, find one or two that you think look user friendly and "sign up" (about as hard as getting into this forum)

Pandora.com has a feature where if you like a certain song and want to hear other songs or artist like that, you can enter it and they will play songs that sound like or are from that same style of music. Nice way to explore artist or music you don't know, but you like one song.

I found them not that long ago when I wanted to hear one of Gorden Lightfoot's songs. The era and style of music was not my normal listening, so everything the station played sounded just like the one song I liked, so it was nice.

NOTE: most online stations will play some kind of "commercial", but they are not normally that long or anything like the normal radio. UNLESS, you are listening to your local radio station online, then it's the same as turning on the "radio."

Hope this helps!

SirDude

PS, Have you thought about getting an iPod? They are not all that hard to use, even more so once you load them up. They come in different sizes, and the great thing about them is if you need help all you need to do is find your local teenage kid and they will have you jamming in no time at all!

Or, you can download all your favorite music, and set up a playlist, or have all of them played randomly.

I cannot stand listening to music I don't like... so, it's rare I can ever listen to any station for long. I've solved this problem by downloading a terabyte or so of music, have it all in folders, and when I feel like one genre, I can have my favorite music player play from that group.

Broadband is almost a must, if you listen to many of the higher def radio stations online.

These are both very good points. I didn't mention the internet connection, but I was kind of going on the thought of the downloading the music for either an iPod or even just the computer playing the music.

PuddleJumper, you're welcome, enjoy your tunes.
