I want to like far more than I actually do like it.

It requires maintenance. That defeats it for me right there. My cars are generally unwaxed, unwashed, and unvacuumed. Doing the regular windshield cleaning and polishing required by rainX just doesn't happen.

Great in the rain, lousy in road spray. The big droplets roll right off. But that mist, doesn't.

Wipers are a nono. I have yet to have a car that didn't promptly turn the windscreen into a dazzling psychodylic display as soon as I hit the wipers to clear the above mentioned mist off the screen.

I do like the Rain-X washer fluid. It cleans well, does give some of the sheeting properties, and doesn't smear.

Here in Florida with frequent rain, it needs very regular application since once you use it, it seems to affect the wipers, making them streak and chatter if you don't keep the Rain-X fresh. I have yet to find a way to restore the wipers once this happens... nothing seems to clean them off, replacement is the only option. I like that way it works when freshly applied but too labor intensive to use regularly. My experience with the wipes and washer fluid is that they are nowhere as good as the actual fluid.

Agree with that.

For those that use Rain-X on a boat. Ever tried it on the bottom?
