Billie - hugs.
And I am working on these a little bit. More this weekend. I'm getting strips of 2.5 inches wide sewn 3 across, then I can iron/press nicely and go slicing and dicing the other way so these will go lickiety split - so I've been told.
I have some pinks, and some red/yellow for right now. Now sure what else will be jumping up to play.

Thanks everyone. I learned within the space of just 2 hours about the deaths of 3 people I knew. One was a childhood friend that I grew up with, went thru all 12 grades of school with, our daughters are friends. He went missing for 10 days and was then found in UT (he lived here in MO). It hurts to say he took his own life. I am struggling with that knowledge as he was always smiling, laughing, and being a goof ball. But I know that sometimes that is just a mask for people when they are really hurting inside and you have no idea about it.
Still it hurts and I was the one who had to inform our graduating class (we are planning a reunion for 2015, so a lot of us are in contact with each other). There were only 74 in our graduating class, way back when. 6 are now gone.

Mine are finished, squared and labeled.
I've got 10 different blocks in my mixture and I'm afraid none of them will go too well with pink ---
Lots of blues and greens, even some red, orange and lavender.
I made an extra one of each of my different blocks to keep for myself.
Can't wait to see what I get in the return squishy!
I ended up using sticky address labels but I hand tacked 2 squares and a label together in each set.
That way the stickys will stay where they belong.
That hand tack should be easier to snip than the machine tacking that some had trouble with.

Billie -- sorry for your loss. It's always difficult when friends' die but especially from their own hand.
When I put together the nine patch from the leftover squares I had, I was amazed at how well they went together, even though some were pastel and others bright. I didn't even have to do much rearranging. So I think everyone will be quite surprized at the wonderful combinations you will be able to make.

Ya know!
I love doing these swaps, especially the camaraderie ~~~~~
And who doesn't LOVE getting a SQUISHY in their mailbox!
It all gets me into a happy-go-lucky, loving feeling!
But there always comes that momemt of reality when I make that trip to the post office ------
$12.15 !
Just for the postage!
That $12.15 is not paying for fabric, thread, or time!
And then mutiply it by 20 participants!
That's $243.oo for POSTAGE!
Okay --- rant over ----
As you were ~~~~~
Back to that "lovin' feeling".

Yes, I know!
In fact my DH collects a mailman's pension!
But I am from a long line of penny-pinchers, frugal and thrifty.
I can't help my self when it comes to following those $$.

WOW that's alot for postage!!
Well I did managed to drag my blocks out once again and got the dreaded ironing part done so I started to pin the rows together. I did do the sitting down part for the ironing so it was as bad as normal. Thank Goodness on that part. I should able to finished these either tonight or tomorrow.
Then I can begin the Christmas gifts. Oh Vay!!! I don't even want to think about that!
Well back to it.

I got 17 finished today!! The strips are all cut, I just have to sew them together. Maybe I will get more done tomorrow.
Billie, hugs and prayers going out to you. Sorry for you loss.
Tallpines, have you tried the priority envelopes? If you hold your mouth just right, you can sometimes get the blocks in one of those cardboard priorities. Then tape the top good. You know, 'if it fits, it ships". Sometimes that is a little cheaper. Even those little $5.10 small priority boxes would probably work. They are free at the post office. Might save a little. (Just thinking)
I am excited about using these blocks too. I just have too many irons in the fire right now (and always) to keep up with everything I need to do and everything I want to do.
I am hoping to finish mine this week so I can get a new quilt on the quilting machine, and get on this rug I am weaving, and work on this scarf I am knitting, and of course the mending is still waiting, a quilt to bind, and three new sets of fabric with the quilt patterns already picked to do..................and on and on and on..........(No wonder I never get caught up!!)

I used that Priority Envelope to ship out.
That Flat Rate envelope is $5.15 PLUS 75 cents for the Delivery Confirmation came to $5.90..
For the return to me I used the tyvek Squishy envelope.
The postage plus DC on that was (from CC in TN to me in WI) came to $6.25.
So, yes, the cardboard envelope was cheaper but only by 35 cents.
Any ways --- that's done (for me) and now I'm looking forward to a trip to Alaska ---- and then coming home to find a squishy in my collected mail.
And to RedHeadedTricia ---- Yes, I intend to take Flat Stanley with me!

I sent these blocks by first class mail using a brown manilla envelope -- I think the cost was around $3.00. Our post office puts on a delivery confirmation sticker that is free. I just write down the number for my records as that one doesn't come with a receipt. So the total cost for postage both ways was around $6.00. I did package the squares in a gallon zip lock bag to protect against moisture.

There may be a problem sending it back to you, I may have to get another DC since according to the PO's records it isn't going to be right and there really will not be anyway to track it. My PO won't let me put the printed out type of return postage on envelopes coming back to me, they require putting stamps on them. Don't know why, but both of the people at our local PO say the same thing. Will worry about that later when I send them home to you, who knows, they may just go ahead and take it, according to their mood or who is watching over their shoulder!
Got my cast on today - finally! My arm is kind of sore but that is from all the moving and wiggling on it that they had to do. I am sure it is going to be better soon.

Hi, all. I am still around and still haven't done these blocks yet. No sewing at all this week. I worked 12+ hrs every day this week. Last weekend a freezer failed and we got corn to put up at the same time. Wore me out!
CC, thank you for the card. That was sweet of you.
The thing that bothers me about the postage is the people at the PO that complain about what I am doing. It is keeping them in business, isn't it?
May sew some tomorrow. we will see.
Happy stitchin', ya'al!

Congrats on getting the cast off!
I used the same method of mailing the last swap--at the recommendation of my Postmistress. If the package is under 13 oz, then the label can be printed out by any post office. Tricia had no problems with this last time and it was quite trackable. If you run into a problem, let me know and I'll have my Postmistress call yours. One thing I did forget to do was to write down the tracking number on the return package, so you'll need to do that if your Postoffice is a small one and doesn't have the POS machine that scans the numbers in.

Belfrybat: My post office is beyond small, what is smaller than small? Hope we don't have to get the postmistresses involved and my PO can figure it out.
I just got my cast ON not off, going to have this silly thing on for about 10 weeks. : Still sore this morning, some better but I was hoping it would feel all better this morning...

CC - it sure was good you could come down, help me break in the new porch with some visiting, and sharing my family birthday with me.
It was a good day.
(I'm crocheting on the orange and white as I watch the closing Olympic ceremony).
Then tomorrow will get back onto the squares for this swap.

Let's see if I can remember the going-on's....
Sorry for your lost Billie....{{HUGS}}
CC sorry to hear that your cast is going on and for sooo long. {{{HUGS}}} Bet it was nice just to take the day off. Good for YOU!!
Happy Belated Birthday Angie.
Tallpines..... Can't wait to see the pictures from Alaska..... That is sooooo on my bucketlist!!! The pictures from New York City was Fabulous!!!!!!!! I'll be sending ya a quick pm after I'm done here.
BelfryBat ... Good Job on your extra blankets that you are working on. I saw them on the other thread.
I think scrappy 9-patch items are going to make up a great deal of my Christmas gifts this year. They are relativily easy to cut and make up. Scrappy works from me as my daughters have put in color request for things like:
#1 .... Greens and Purples - think grapes
#2 .... Pale pinks with sliver mossy greens and Creams - Think old-fashion Tudor roses
Plus there are the two new grandbabies.... scrappy 9-patches blankets work just fine for them lol.
Then my son, Curtis, is wanting Superheros or the Beatles ....
My Other Half is wanting an extra long lap quilt using some sort of Confederate Flag or theme since he is HUGE Civil War fanic.... and stand 6'2" .... so basically a twin size quilt.
LOL.... somehow I don't see any of the request being fulfilled unles they all buy their own fabrics .... and start a waiting list game.
Well I have gotten all my 9's done and down to the ironing/trimming stage. So I should be able to finish in the next week or so, depending on what all happens.
UGH!!!!! I just ironed and squares up all my blocks only to find that I have to re-make close to 1/3 of them. I'm soooooo bummed out.

Sorry I've been absent, life keeps getting in the way of so many things and places I want to be. Hubby is not doing well and I'm having to pick up a lot of slack he normally takes care of. Plus this running for medical appointments two and three times a week (most 4 hrs. round-trip) is wearing me down. Hopefully we will have the heart issue answers soon so it can get fixed. Amazing how just riding in a car and sitting around waiting can effect a person's body. You'd think it would make you full of energy with all that rest!
But I wanted to check in say I'm sewing like a mad women as I know time is getting short. I'll check in again in a day or two and let you know my mailing status.

c.c.,
Would you, please, let us know, confirm when you receive our packages.
I've experienced 3 separate instances when a DC number indicated a package had been delivered when, in fact, the package either was not delivered, or was delivered to the WRONG house.
#1 ... sent a pkg to DD.
Her mail man scanned it as "delivered" but then realized she was not home.
Rather than leave it on her open porch, he kept it in his truck.
She was gone for several days and he apparently "forgot" about it.
A follow up "search" got the pkg located, safe and sound, but still in his truck.
#2 ... Pkg was mistakenly delivered to our neighbor ---- one mile over, on a different road.
#3 ... I mailed a squishy to Karen. It was scanned as reaching her Post Office, but it never got to her home.
Days later, the tracking number indicated "delivered" --- yet she still didn't get it ..........
But it was "delivered' from her PO back to mine and back to MY mailbox.
So yes, even tho the tracking indicates "delivered", I would feel more secure knowing that you received it --- that it was "delivered" to the correct house.
