Horsemom-Good Grief,,I called your daughter Cheyene instead of Cherokee,, I am so sorry.. I really do know her name..geez..sometimes my mind just up and leaves me!! well..give her a hug from me..

Wow more and more pinks coming..!!!!!!!!!!! I am so very excited and thank all of you so much..this little baby has had a rough life so far..she is only 4 months old, her teenage birth mother got hooked on drugs, lived with the baby outside under a bridge, then abandoned her;; left her laying on the cold ground..there was signs of abuse..!! thank goodness a homeless man found the baby, and asked someone to come help,.. so now she is in a foster home with the chance to be adopted by a very kind and loving Mom.. all your pink blocks are going into a quilt for her and I thank all of you so very much!!!!! there IS goodness in this world!!

Chixarecute: These are the instructions that Karen put in on the first page. If you can't find the squishy type envelopes just get the plain priority envelopes from the Post office, they don't charge for them.

When you mail, be sure and send them to the hostess with Delivery Confirmation and then post your DC number in the thread.

Also when mailing, be sure you enclose a self-addressed mailer and be sure you have attached enough postage for the return of your package. It's important to not forget this step and don't send the hostess funds to provide your postage -- including enough to cover the return Delivery Confirmation from the hostess. You must attach your own postage! The hostess should be able to just sort, stuff and mail. Also enclose a filled out delivery confirmation label so she can just attach it and mail.

I just got a PM from Prairiegirl and due to health issues she is going to have to drop out of this swap. She is having a problem with the prescription the doc put her on, I think many of us have had this happen to us and it is anything but fun. She asked that I extend her deepest apologizes to everyone. This will change our requirements to 39 squares instead of 41 or if y'all would like to send the 2 for Prairiegirl I will make sure she gets them. Remember, this is due to an unexpected illness and I would like to see that she gets them as no one plans to get sick!

pairiegirl - so sorry to hear about the meds messing you up. And after you get through them or better set, you can do another swap later. Just get better.

I'm still deciding on fabric. My real start on this will be Sunday probably. I have Saturday spoken for by Dad in morning and early afternoon, and Granddaughter later afternoon into night.
But I did get the PINK memo. :-)

USPS has squishy envelopes, just hate to buy a second one to stuff inside if the outer one can be re-used.

The post office doesn't have a non-squishy envelope big enough to fit all the squares in.

Thank you for posting the excerpt - I'd forgotten about the DC

Why buy an envelope? Send Priority and they are free. The Priority padded envelopes are plenty large (usable space is 9x12" and cost a bit over $5.00 to mail. Most POs also have the tyvek envelope for Priority mail and they are even larger -- 10x13" I think. I'm using the padded because that is what I have. Plenty of room for the squares and the return envelope.

Here is a snippet from the first post/ FAQ:

Sorry to hear Prariegirl had to drop out. My envelope is already sealed so CC will have two extra squares. I'll leave it up to her to decide what to do with them.

If your post office does not have the tyvek envelopes- which work really great, you can order free supplies on the internet. They have a priority mail envelope that is about 11 x 15 on this page that is free.

My squishy is on it's way! Although not very squishy since I used a padded envelope.

I found a stack of prewashed strips I could use for this exchange but they are all 30s repro fabrics. A personal favorite of mine and they have a lot of pink but I know a lot of people don't like them. I still need to find other fabrics to go with them. I have some green I bought to use with my 30s scraps to make an Irish chain. Leaning toward that.

The other thing I have prewashed is bright batiks.

Going back to work tomorrow for the next 6 of 7 days. Monday is my day off. So, probably next weekend before I work on these.

You all are so far ahead of me! I bet I win the honor of being last one done. LOL

OH Countrysunshine, so glad to hear there is someone else on here who loves the 30s reproduction fabrics.

I used pink, green and yellow prints to make my blocks. Had found two jelly rolls that I had forgotten I had and so that is what I used. Washed them after sewing them and they didn't shrink and it worked. I was kind of afraid to wash the strips, thought I might end up with just a bunch of thread or a knotted up mess.

Anyone who sends the extra 2 blocks I will send them on to Prairiegirl. She has always been such an important part of our swaps and now that she is sick she needs a little pick me up.

Ooo, CC, I put in my "order" for bright batiks! Seriously though, any you make will look great and I'm sure will go with what the rest of us have made.

I was pleasantly surprised when we did the white and calico swap that all the squares blended well together, even though some were pastels and some bright.

Well girls y'all are not going to believe what has happened to me this time, I took a fall in the yard this afternoon and broke my wrist! I must have a huge black cloud hanging over my head, just like the fella in Lil Abner that had no vowels in his name. (Boy, does that show my age!) Any body else remember that comic? I am so glad I finished my blocks. The good thing is that it was my left hand, I am right handed. This has taken a while to type since I am typing it one handed. Going to the orthopedic doctor tomorrow to have a cast put on, ER doc just put a splint on it.

CC - how did you fall in the yard? a hole or an animal underfoot?

I'm going to have to come and wrap you in bubble wrap.
Please take care, good that you're going to get it cast tomorrow.

rest of the group - NO LETTING THE GRAY CLOUD COME TO YOUR HOUSE. That's it. If you see it, tell me and I'll give it (the gray cloud) so many infraction points that it will be banned for a 1000 years from you and your family! So THERE!!!

(I can do that since you are an HT member and I can give HT infraction points. If I miss any, tell Karen - she can do it, too)

I have 31 done, but I'm only counting 30 since one is a bit more wonky then I care to send! So far all but 4 of the blocks have hand dyed fabric from www.labfabrics.com (I hope that's the right site, it's been a while since I've been there!) I will be sure to make sure that each of you gets at least 1 block with the hand dyed. I really do like them! Some were so pale you could barely see the color and that was a dissapointment, but overall the fabric is great to work with.

Maxine do not feel bad about the name mistake It happens quite often. I think it took my dad over a year to get it right, Lol

CC and everyone else please be careful and stay safe! Prariegirl, feel better :Grouphug: you will have 2 blocks coming from me also.

Here is a pic of my first 25, just so everyone can see the way they work together even though most are different. I think a 2" sashing would really bring them all together! The last 4 I just did remind me of pink and blue cotton candy!

Wow! Fabulous colour combinations. I see four that are my favourites! You have a good eye for colour.

CC -- sorry to hear of your accident. Hope the hand heals quickly.

Oh my... Hope I am not going to be the last to get in the mail. I am back with my sewing machine, have all the strips cut, and am ready for the sew-cut-sew! All the blocks sound so fabulous can hardly wait to see them in person.

Prairiegirl and CC: sending prayers for speedy recovery and wisdom for doctors.

Horsemom: thanks for the link, sounds interesting for sure. Can't get the page to open, but will keep trying.

Maxine: Granddaughters are the absolute BEST! I had 2 boys, my husbands brother had 1 boy, and my brother had 1 boy... so a family of boys and finally some little girls!! What a blessing.

Okay... off to sew-cut-sew.

Please lets not let the accidents begin!!! We had enough of them last go round. CC and prairiegirl, I will being saying prayers for your recoveries. Now don't add anyone else.
I have 4 blocks I had finished and cut strips for the rest, but my colors are not bright colors like all of yours. I am thinking about going through my stash again and cutting new ones. Mine are more like fall colors, darker colors. That is what I found in my stash first so started cutting. I will go upstairs this afternoon and think about it. I know there is no pink.........maybe reds, forest greens, blacks, browns, blues, BUT.......no pink.
I have a Dick and Jane quilt on my quilting machine that I have to finish today because hubby is going to move my quilting machine upstairs to the empty (besides his reloading tables) bedroom. That way I can quilt and he can reload and we can still see each other. LOL. Those were his thoughts!! Gotta love the man. We will be married 35 years in September!!
I have been invited to a quilters guild next Tuesday. They want to see my machine quilting as they are looking for someone to quilt their quilts for them. They wanted me to join their group, but it meets in the daytime on Tuesdays, and I have to be home to answer the office phone during the day. (We are self employed and I have our office in my house so I can work from home)...........and sew and quilt when I'm not canning and gardening.
Well, you ladies have a wonderful sewing day,,,,,,,,,,and no more accidents please. Can't wait to see your wonderful blocks, but I have to go look and re-think mine now.

Everyone's blocks sound wonderful! So happy to hear everyone is having fun and this one isn't stressing any one out. That's the way these are suppose to be.

Yes, no more sickness or catastophies because we all have a lot to do and just praying for everyone in these last couple of swaps has become a full time job! LOL!!!!

Seriously, things do happen and it's so refreshing and heartfelt when everyone pulls together to help out and give each other support and encouragment. We need more of that in the world! Thank you so much ladies for your compassion!!

With that said, I've had a rough couple of days, but think it's just the way things go with gastric bypass. Having a lot of pain in lower stomach and can't keep anything down. Getting kind of weak as I've only been able to keep one protein shake down the last couple of days. Called the surgeon's office and just got a call back. The nurse seems pretty convinced it's severe constipation and I need to do a couple of Fleet enemas. Auggghhhh!! Trying to be a good patient and will do as directed, although I REALLY HATE these things!

A first I though, surely not; but I think they were right!! I'm feeling much better and not in as much pain. Going to head out to pick up a few things at the store and DH needs to get a slow leak in a tire fixed. If I continue to do okay, I may even cut some strips tonight. Angie must of infractioned me because it seems the crisis may be over!!

My blocks are in the mail. DC is 0307 3330 0000 3718 6455.

I sent a few extra - CC split them up however you see fit.

I agree with Angie - 3 gray clouds are 3 too many. Be good to yourself!

Well today I'm working on the sewing machine. I'm currently running the 1st two squares per row together & then I'll re-pin the 3rd square to the 1st two to continue with the chaining. I also put together the front of mine & Curtis's Japanese Sashiko skinny wall hanging together, just need to back it. After these are done I'm stitching together a very mini "broken dishes" from 1.5" blocks. These were left over "goose poop" HST's from making some signature blocks that I had to make so that I can clear those off the table & put in my inventory box as a mini quilt wall hanging.

Sorry to hear that Prairiegirl had to with draw. I'm still including a couple of blocks for her.
CC -- hope the wrist gets better & prayers that nothing else happens to ya.

Thanks for the "Anti-?" Clouds Angie..... Oh brother! I hope we aren't in for a repeat of the last swap.

Time to head back to the sewing machine....
Toodles & Hugs all around,
RHT
