I picked up a old wooden shipping crate from the industrial park around the corner from my house. Drive around any industrial area, pull in behind the buildings, and you are likely to find one. Mine is about 4 x 4 x 6 feet. I use this for their "house" all year, and it sits in their field. I cut a opening in the one side about 2ft x 3ft. I just chuck a couple of slices of bread into the box, the pigs run in, then I cover up the door with a piece of plywood and nail it into place.
I pick up the crate with a bobcat (because I have one) but it could easily be pulled onto a trailer with a come-along.
This year however I plan to kill and butcher them myself. The crate will just wait in the pen for next years pigs.
The first time I did it, I loaded them onto a trailer with the help of two friends. Never again. The crate makes the job very easy.
