Found Puppy. Ideas on breed?

We found this puppy alone, crying in our woods (we live in a rural area). We are trying to find her owners, but we believe she was "dumped". Our vet estimates she is 10-12 weeks old. She is 13 lbs. Any guesses as to what mix of breeds she might be? I know it is difficult, if not impossible to tell at her age, but I'm curious what y'all think. We are taking care of her until we can find her a loving home. Found Puppy. Ideas on breed? - Working and Companion AnimalsFound Puppy. Ideas on breed? - Working and Companion AnimalsFound Puppy. She is a breed that has enough sense to visit the vet and eat good food. High potential for being a great companion.

As to her other qualities, just watch what her interests and energy levels are.

Found Puppy. Ideas on breed?

Right, Maura! She's living the high life for now on raw meat, raw bones, tripe, raw milk kefir, coconut oil, flax seed, herbal multivitamin/mineral, nutritional yeast, and raw eggs. Her coat is already showing signs of improvement, even after just a week. She is super sweet, loves people, and is respectful towards our cats, other dogs, and even our chickens. We already have four dogs (plus other animals), or we would consider keeping her. I would like to add a working herding dog at some point, but I don't think she looks like any herding breeds I know.

What a little doll! You take good photos. No idea on the breed, though.

Do you have fire ants in your area? Those little white spots on her belly look like the scars I got from when I was bitten by fire ants.

The Pit in her is obvious... at least I think so.

And I'm tempted to say there's some Border Collie in there too.

Lab wouldn't be beyond possibility.

Yes, fire ants abound here. I'm sure she had to learn that lesson the hard way. But I think most dogs around here do.

She reminds me of a rat terrier, the facial expression and the ears wanting to stand up. But mixed with something else bigger. Who knows, she could have 10 different breeds in her. She's a cute pup and wonderful to hear how well she behaves. Will make someone a great pet. Good on ya for taking her in and finding her a home.

Funny you should say that she looks like she might have terrier in her. I just got a message from someone saying she looks like a puppy someone was trying to give away 10 miles from here. They were advertising their pups as lab x Jack Russell terrier mixes. But I agree, she could be a mix of so many different things.

That is a cute puppy, if we didn't already have a pup that's a handful I might consider a drive to GA.

I could agree with Lab/Jack Russel mix, I could also see a bit of Pit too, but at that age it can be hard to tell.

I see Pit or Lab, she's a little big for Jack Russel, to me. Her feet look like she might grow to be a medium to large size dog. She is awfully cute.

Enjoy her until you can find her a home, if you can manage to part with her by then!

Because of her weight at her age, I would guess pitty. She looks like a lovely little thing!

That's exactly what I was thinking - border collie+lab+boxer or american pit bull terrier.

She might make a fine farm dog. All of those breeds are intelligent, loyal and work great with people. Her herding instincts could probably be easily developed, as would her retrieving instincts.

Out of my friend's 3 dogs, her pit bull/lab/catahoula mix is the best. He is gentle and loving with all of their pets, including the kitten and elderly cat residents. He is also great with the chickens. They free range their chickens during the day, and he keeps a close watch over them and the farm. They haven't lost one chicken to predators.

Good luck to you and the puppy - either in making her a great permanent addition to your farm and home or finding her an equally good home elsewhere.

She was covered in fleas, but vet checked her and she tested negative for worms.

She sure is cute! Get a Wisdom DNA kit if you really want to know what she is. They are very accurate now. Our Vet has them.
I would guess some Lab in her.

I don't believe the dna tests are accurate for breed recognization, most domestic dogs breeds are closely related more than one would guess. I would guess a Feist x
