My Cat Died Yesterday

My 18 year old cat died unexpectedly yesterday. He suddenly started struggling to breathe and DH rushed him to the Vet. He passed shortly after arriving. The Vet said it was his heart - it just gave out. He was a good boy, feisty and fun, a handsome orange tomcat with green eyes. We took him in as a stray kitten along with his two littermates so many years ago. We are sad. He will be missed very much....

I'm so very sorry for your loss. But at 18, you obviously gave him a loving healthy home. Allow yourself to grieve but also celebrate his life and the happiness he gave to you all these years.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Never easy losing a pet, they are family. But at least it sounds like he lived a long happy life, and that is thanks to you for taking him in.

SageLady, I am sorry! Losing one so unexpectedly is very hard. And - rather wonderful that he was able to go on his own instead of dwindling and suffering.

May all those years of memories keep you company and bring a smile.

Oh so sorry to hear this. Of course it gets easier with time, but right now it sure hurts. I hope you find some comfort.

Sorry about the passing of your kitty. He sounded like an wonderful, awesome cat. My house cats are getting older, and I just dread the day when they are no longer with us. I really love my cats.

I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm glad he had such a long life with a loving family. I lost my 16 yr old brother & sister kitties 2 yrs ago & still miss them. For a long time I'd think I saw one of them out of the corner of my eye.

I keep thinking I see him out of the corner of my eye too. His littermate, his brother, is missing him so much too. He's all alone now, except for my Mother's cat I took in when she died, and they don't get along too well. Neither cat likes the dogs either...

Thanks again, everyone.
