Unhappy I'm done.....

no more pets here. As these die off there will be no more. I just can't do it anymore. Today Reece for some reason bolted out the front door when ds went to check the mail. She's never done that before. She ran and ran..... straight into the road. I saw her get hit. She kept right on going. I know she's scared if she's still alive. I've looked and looked for her. We've walked every neighborhood around and no one has seen her. Its like she has just disappeared. I'm afraid she was hurt and has hidden somewhere to die. Tomorrow we'll put up posters but I'm not holding out any hope. 3 dogs in 5 years we've lost..........and our old Golden most likely will not see another summer.

I'm so very sorry to hear what happened. I truly hope that you find your dog and that he is alive and well/at least taken care of by a good samaritan. We've lost quite a few of our dogs in seven years, a few to old age and most of the others to cars... Its a shame, sad, and difficult. Especially when you are there watching it happen.

FOUND BROWN AND WHITE DOG!! (HUDSON BLVD AND 321--GASTONIA)

Ginnie, any chance this could be her?

I emailed them a picture I got off here, and told them if its the same dog the owners are looking for her. I sure hope it is!

Oh gosh, so sorry about Reece. And I thought we were the only ones who could have such bad luck keeping our dogs alive. We've lost 5 in eight years since moving here. My family says this property is jinxed. My son says we "can't" have any more dogs.

My friends dog ran off and disappeared one day. She never gave up looking for him and found him several days later half dead in a bush. He'd been hit by a car. The vet's said he'd never walk again, blah blah. Today he's back to normal.

Don't give up looking for Reece. Take your golden with you while you're walking. She'll be a great help in finding her. Post on Craigslist, call all the vets offices in your area and all the animal shelters. Did she have ID on her?

Thank you Jason but we are as she would have to travel hours from there...by interstate quicker. It was a long restless night. Kids didn't sleep till after midnight and it was much later for me. First thing I did was go outside and call for her. I just have the feeling that she is gone...
Ds still thinks she is going to come home........he's going to be heartbroken when he finally realizes it. The kids did make posters last night and we'll put them out and I posted on the counties lost pet page on FB. I have friends in the area looking for her too.
There are tons of mcmansion homes and amazingly farmland still near us though so looking is hard. I spent 3 hours yesterday driving and calling her in those neighborhoods and another 45 minutes searching the small patch of woods near where I last saw her. I had permission to check the cow pasture but as I was getting ready to crawl over the fence I wondered if there was a bull in there..............the last thing the kids need right now would be for me to get hurt. So we walked the fence as far as we could and called her.

Keep your eyes open. She oculd be just terrified and if you watch, you'll see her and can coax her home.

I had a dog slip away and get lost once; he was gone two weeks before he showed up barking at my door.

I was praying she'd be at the door this morning and was up at 6:30 looking.....I've got windows open hoping to hear her bark. As it is I'm running to look every single time I hear a dog. Didn't sleep last night at all.....just kept seeing that car hit her and hearing myself call her. I'm going to go ride again and see if I can see her in just a bit. The kids are so sad. It just breaks my heart that they saw her get hit.
