would you ever have a pet shipped to you or do a "meet 1/2 way"?

I prefer to drive, but I'd like to maintain my right to not do so. If I'd previously met the breeder and close relatives of a pup somewhere on common ground, I'd be interested in saving myself the long drive to go look before I buy.

Signed it. Raised and showed dogs for 20-plus years ... bought many show prospects sight unseen from reputable breeders that were shipped to me sight unseen and many of the puppies I raised were sold to buyers I had not met in person, or had met some time previously at a show.

Signed, there's many rural areas where my breed of choice is impossible to get. I love schnauzers {standards and giants} and I'm the only one that has them here. I've got one male {out to the dog shows right now} and my female Tasha who is a failed show dog but of super breed lines. She hates crowds and shuts down.

It is not just about dogs. but any animal that can be called a pet can be affected.
thank goodness the cat, dog and rabbit people are on board!
right now there are 25922 sigs but we need more.

Sorry about the single minded post. Only had one cup of joe this morning and got distracted by Dog the Bounty Hunter on TV. I agree that this would be a shame. Lot of chicken breeders I know from back home would never have their starting chickens they've got if they weren't shipped.
Again Sorry, Benny

Even if you would never consider getting an animal shipped, everyone NEEDS to sign this. A friend of mine explain it very well.....
" It is about the encroachment of government into ordinary peoples homes... it would prevent me from having more than 4 females (even spayed) in my home, even if I wanted to foster or rescue! This law would not just cover dogs,,,, but any animal!!! You would even be required to sell your pups before a certain age before being hit by the ~Law~!!!"
so you see, this proposed law is more than just about pets. It's about losing one more of our freedoms to government bureaucracy.

How are they going to know you haven't seen the animal before it was shipped to you?

They could start with airline records and pet transport services for all puppy shipments and go from there.

People do drive. Seems like they will have a very hard time proving a person did not visit and look at the animal before shipping it.
Don't think they will invest the money needed to prove you didn't.

the point is, if this law passes, they COULD. Like I said before, they probably won't, but do we really want to give the goverment more freedom?

LOL it is OK!
Most think it is only about dogs and cats. And the ARs hope that is only what people will see. if they really took a look.... also if you are required to be regulated for one of the covered animals, let say sugar gliders, then your dogs or cats or rabbits will have to be too.

SIGNED IT! I bought my bitch after many pics and videos and measurements by the breeder and did not see her face to face til we drove to WV to pick her up. While it isnt something I recommend it was so difficult for me to find a Parti breeder who did genetic testing AND had dogs I liked together as dam & sire that I was forced to do so.
Too mnay times the small breeders get lumped with the big breeders its scary that the future o fth ebreeds could be so close to ruin by "good intentions"

Even big breeders can be good breeders (many "big" ones are) and small breeders Sh*Ty breeders (more are).
This shouldn't be about how many or how the pet got to the buyer.
But how they care for the stock (lack of better word) and how much effort they put in to bettering the breed.

this can easily effect farm/LGD puppies born and raised in the barn. since the regulations will not allow wood.
and if you buy a pup and it doesn't work out like it being a chicken killer you can not resale it, even to a chicken free home. since it wasn't born on your farm.
