Can I change where my dog poops?

Always had dogs that poop on the perimeter of our land. This is a female 4 four month old pit/beagle dog...very smart. Does great with our livestock.. so far .... Anyway... she poops right by the side walk ...every single time. By the way... she is an outside dog. Is there anything I can do?????

I have read really great advice on this somewhere! We took Annika out on a lead the first couple of weeks we had her and so she just kind of goes in the same area all the time (perimeter of the yard).. it's like she KNOWS that the rest of the yard belongs to the little people. lol

If you know her schedule, bring her inside 20 minutes before poop time. Keep her with you, put down a towel or blankie for her in an out of the way place in the living room and give her kibble or little treats when she goes there. Put the leash on her and bring her to the place you want her to go. Pace back and forth until she goes. Just ignore her and let her do her thing. When she squats, get a treat in your hand and the instant she is done give her the treat. Leave the poop there. Release her. If you haven't been getting our rain, hose down the area she has been pooping in. She will probably tend to go to the fresh stuff. You'll need to work with her for several days, which means bringing her in the house. This is a good thing. If you had to bring her in for some reason, she will feel comfortable.

After she's used the toilet three times, leave the freshest and pick up the other two. If you don't keep it picked up, her potty area will become bigger and bigger. Unless you feed raw, which breaks down quickly.
