Getting a Puppy Today (Pics Soon)
My dog Angel is just that, an Angel. Best dog ever. I got soo lucky when i found her she was already potty trained and even though she had some issues i didn't give up on her and got her the training she needed to become a perfect well rounded stable loving dog.
We adopted a dog awhile back (coyote mix, they just passed an ordnance banning coydogs and wolf dogs so there have been a lot of them being abandoned, etc.) and she just wasn't the right fit. I re homed her and she's doing so much better where she is now then she was here. We keep in touch with the family who adopted her from us.
We got her from someone who found her, i didn't know her background or anything and it just was not a good fit for us. I'm glad she's in a good home now though.
I'm heading out here soon to pick up a puppy and the parents are on site where i can meet them, and lots of puppies to choose from to hopefully find the right dog this time.
I'll post pictures when i get him/her. If i do, theres always the possibility of me getting there and not clicking with any of the puppies. I'm assuming it was an oops litter as they are mixed, Husky X Golden Retriever.

He's so spunky. He just walked up to Angel and was barking at her trying to get her to play, then when she jumped up and went into a play bow (too fast for his liking) he yelped and ran the other direction.
My friend went with me, she was also looking for a puppy and she took the last one. I'd been staring at their picture they lady sent me and i got exactly the one i wanted!

I learned this the hard way. If crating, put a vinyl tarp in front of the crate so when he steps out of the crate, if he pees, he isn't hurting anything. My puppy was 11 1/2 weeks old when I got him and had been in a kennel, so his baby environment was different.
It's nice that you have an older dog to help doggy socialize Dallas. I like the name on him.

Thanks!
He's doing good so far. He peed and pooped outside twice and is learning to sit!

Thanks! He's still doing awesome. He's a spunky little guy. He's got a bit of food aggression anyone have tips on how to deal with this in a puppy? He came from a large litter so i imagine they had to do a bit of fighting over food. He seems a little too skinny for my liking so i'm thinking he wasn't getting enough.
He's better then he was, I've been working with him some but he's still guards over his food and will growl if he thinks your trying to take it away from him.
He's 9 weeks old today!

Feed him on a regular routine. If you have children, have the youngest feed him by hand. Work on sit. He is lured into a sit, praised, and given a kibble or few (depending on the size of the kibble). Each meal, have a different family member feed him this way. This gives him a lesson while at the same time showing him that the humans have higher rank than he does. You are also working on taking bits in a nice way and not grabbing.

Yep, that. Feed him by hand. It may take a while to get each feeding done, but that's the best way to overcome food aggression. All treats and food must be taken "gently" (we use that key work while giving treats, so they learn). Start out using a flat palm so that if he does get excited he won't be able to nip the tips of your fingers with those sharp baby teeth. Ouch!!
