Update on Problem Kitties

I just thought everyone would like to know how things went with our two cats, Ruger and Camo. Ruger had issues after we adopted three kittens and Camo, one of the three musketeer kittens was just plain psycho.

Camo, Jimmy and June are now 9 months old. Camo, bless her scrambled little calico brains, is still a little on the flighty side but spaying really solved the majority of her crazy, paranoid actions. She sleeps on the end of the bed with us and will never be a cuddle cat but enjoys having her back scratched and begs like a dog when we eat anything around her. Somebody responded with 'she is in heat' when I posted about her behavior and that turned out to be the trouble. When Juney went into heat she became very lovable and sweet, Camo just went into an unending state of PMS, the complete opposite of what the book says.

Ruger, our 4 year old alpha cat went into a snit after we got the three kittens to the point where we were really worried about her. She refused to eat, or socialize, started pouting and laying around. Everyone had some great tips for how to handle this troubled little kitty, but when all was said and done, love cured all. I lavished attention on her, hand fed her tidbits that I knew she liked or 'special served' her meals on her own saucer. Her turn around was remarkable. The old, sassy Ruger is back and now that the kittens are starting to get some size on her they do not hesitate to adjust her attitude whenever she pushes them too far.

We are now a 5 cat 3 dog household and it is a bit like having 8 children perpetually stuck in 2-3 year old behavior mode, with three of them in adolescence.

Thanks to everyone who helped us out with our problem kitties. I am no longer a novice with cats...now if somebody can tell me how to keep our accident prone Australian Cattle dog from hurting himself every other month life would be perfect!:smiley-laughing013:

You just need to get a REALLY big hamster ball!

Glad to hear the kitties are feeling better.

Dingo would just chew through it! I want to get the latest round of sutures out of him before he gets the chance to do something else to himself!

Or bang it up against a wall to crack it open like the hamster we had did every time she was put in the ball.
She did it one too many times and became fair game for the cats..
