Had to share this photo of our old man.

This is Drake, our Black Lab. He was 11 years old a few months back. My sister-in-law took this photo when she was visiting last week. Drake used to be her dog and he's always happy to see her when she comes to visit.

The cooler weather has really made his arthritis flare up and we are trying to enjoy every day we have with him because we know he's getting old and won't be around forever.

Drake is a sweet, well mannered dog (who is sleeping at my feet at the moment) and I just had to share what may be the best photo ever taken of him.

I don't know what it is about old labs, but they are my favorite elderly dog. They just look so regal!

Very handsome.

Cosequin and massage therapy makes an old lab young! Or swimming!

What a handsome man!

There is an elderly chocolate lab that lives beside my work. I've seen her & her people walking through town (off leash & she is deaf!) She loves her people and stays right beside them.

Once I got to talk to her "momma", she is 18!!! Holy cats, she looks old, but not 18! She's not quite as quick this winter, a little more dottering - but still likes her walks!

Oh my, tearing up, he looks just like my 13 1/2 year old girl we lost on fathers day this year. So very handsome, PLEASE give him and extra hug and kiss for me. I cannot get over how much he looks like my Sheba.

I just cannot stop looking at that picture. Probably the best one of a black lab I have seen for a long time.

He reminds me of our lab "Moose" she was the best dog we ever had (though I love all our animals she was just extra special). She was 14 when we had to put her down due to cancer. I just wanna give Drake a big ol hug!

I will definitely give him extra hugs for y'all!

He is on glucosamine/chondroitin (however you spell it) daily and gets Previcox when he's hurting.

Drake swims in the pond daily and gets lots of walks. He's also good about sticking right beside you on walks and he LOVES to go for a ride in the truck!

What a handsome gentleman!

We had a Brittany when I was growing up. As he got older and had lots of aches and pains, my mother would give him medicine, cover him with an old wool sweater and stroke him until he fell asleep each night.
