update on Scotch

First, I would like to thank everyone for the good thoughts. I really do appreciate everything.

He is doing ok. The pain meds are done, so he is breathing a bit heavier - I think I've called the vet's office every day to ask questions.

I've nursed many a sick puppy, kitten, cat, dog - but this time I'm a nervous wreck....

He is eating a bit. I think I've bought every flavor, style, type of canned cat food! He won't eat nutrcal or baby food - that's what he had when he was really sick, before, and he just refuses to even smell it!

He loves lunch meat (turkey, roast beef, chipped ham) so I tear it to itty bitty pieces for him. Even the ground canned cat food has to be really mashed for him. He's also getting a bit of evaoporated milk. He eats one or two small (fancy feast size) all day. Sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less.

He is doing a bit of open mouthed breathing when he walks too much (every time we go in the bathroom, he has to get up & rub on us!). He spends most of the time on a heating pad, relaxing. tHE vet thinks it is all pain related - he's still nice & pink, not pale or blue. His pain meds are done as of yesterday morning.

Sorry for the rambling - it's been one of those weeks.....

Thanks again

Maybe he needs pain meds for a longer period of time. I would ask the vet about that. Please keep us updated. We are all very concerned about Scotch. Hang in there little buddy!

Try feeding him some hamburger and rice. Use the long grain rice that has to be boiled, not the instant rice. Fry hamburger and mix in rice. Do not drain and DO NOT put any onions in it.. That was one of my mistakes over the last several years. Also our kitties like chicken breast that has been steamed. That I sometimes steam in some onions but I do not let them have any since I read about onions causing kidney problems for them.
We are pulling for him...
