puppy/water dish issues...

Hi everyone,

My dad has an 8-month-old golden puppy who is a little too excited about his water bowl. He has one of those large-ish rubber flat dishes, and likes to dig in it and splash himself. He also carries it around the yard, spilling water everywhere. Any suggestions?

Use either a 5 gallon bucket (yes, he can still splash in it) or hang a flat backed pail on the fence high enough that it makes it harder for him to splash in it. It will avoid him carrying it around at least and there will be plenty for him to drink even after he splashes

Oh, that's a good idea! I'll pass it on It's been a long time since Dad had a puppy so he's a little out of practice with the destructive angle of youngsters lol

Since its getting warmer, I would get him a kiddie pool to play in. Plus they are harder to drag around...LOL

That's an idea...but then I'd be posting "How do we get him out of the pool???"

They can't tip the "non-tip" style, but they can still dig in it. I'd second the pool idea and keep drinking water separate. Personally, I'd rather have happy wet dog than bored naughty dog. Good luck with it - what a riot! Gotta love a happy pup!

LOL - I actually DO have some pics of him at 12? weeks when Dad brought him up to visit me - we took him to the lake - maybe that's where he got the idea? I remember Dad getting kiddie pools for our dogs when I was growing up so I'm sure he'll do the same for Pete. He is wonderfully happy dog - especially now that the neighbors have a lab puppy - they have a ball!
