Ok enablers :) ( pix)

Fine I am giving up on resisting him and his charms. My kids have been working me and everyone says I should keep him. Sigh like I need another dog and one with a penis. Poor Sydney is my only girl, we are becoming outnumbered.
I have to admit I like his personality and he is too cute. He gets along well with my dogs, in an out and he likes to irritate one of my cats but they will teach him to back off as they are two-two and half times bigger than he is.

So unless someone comes to claim him, which in almost a week no one has then he is here to stay. I am currently teaching him the sign for "No" which all puppies hear alot, lol.
He just better not try to herd the goats or they will stomp him into the ground. They have an attitude when it comes to dogs annoying them.

Call him whatever you want, he won't come. I'm sorry, feeling froggy this morning and couldn't resist.

He IS sweet and cute as a button. I wish you could mail him to me!!! Heck, I have chows that don't listen and they have NO excuse. I don't usually go with the name Lucky, but he is truly Lucky to have you.

looks like a merl to merl aussie breeding. If he can see check to see if he can hear? Just because of that look he might have been dumped. Australian Shepherds are the best dogs ever!!!

He will learn a lot from your LGD if you start using hand signals when you talk to Teddy.

We have a deaf cat that we did not know was deaf for several months after getting her as a 1 1/2 pound undernourished kitten at 6-8 weeks old. She knows our signal for kitty, kitty and no and stop and you %#*# well better stop.

And beccachow you are right about the name. We named our cat Bunnybutt (she has no tail, just a little tuft of hair) and no matter how many times I tell people she is deaf, she can't here you, call her this way, they will stay "here kitty kitty" and she just looks at them like "I don't read lips" cause they did not give the proper signal. LOL It is truly amazing how she picked up signals from us.

Forgot to add, yes I would have a hard time giving him up also.

Yes Ozarkquilter he is deaf. Probably why he was out there in the freezing cold at night He is also a total sissy about the cold. He likes to eat snow but hates to stand in it.

I am using hand signals but I find that I still talk to him. When we still had the tree up he was messing with it and I was saying " No puppy no!"
and my son says " You know he can't hear ya right?"
" yes I know!" So I went over and made the puppy stop. Habits are hard to break

He follows me everywhere and sits at my feet when I stop and looks at me with this sweet little face and I swears he bats his eyes at me. He knew who to suck up to as my kids were sold probably the second he licked their faces.

So far I am using the ASL sign for no, but I better come up with one for "you %#*# well better stop" being a puppy I am sure I will need one, lol

What a little darling! I think it would be a bad idea for you to keep him. He should come up here instead.

He's adorable, I'm glad you're keeping him!

AWE!!

I had a merle Aussie named Blue. (origioual, I know, but he came with that name!). I LOVED that dog! His name should have been "Sissy Pants" because every time it stormed he HAD to lay right on me. I can sleep through thunderstorms, but it's a little hard to have a 70 pound Aussie on your chest, panting in your face!

I vote for Casper, Shivers, or Frosty for names. But it doesn't matter what you call him! He's still cute and still won't come to you!

That was my first thought too. And yep, if he's deaf, that's why.

A good friend of ours had a deaf Aussie (same reason ) but she did fine. Unless she wanted to ignore him, in which case she wouldn't look to see his hand signals.

How is his vision? In your other post you said he had a blue eye and a broken brown one...

Thankfully his vision is good. He pays attention when he sees things and looks at our faces often. I am sure that when he gets to his terrible two's or teenage phase he is going to try to ignore me too

I know he cannot hear his name but others will so it can't be something embarassing that cracks people up, lol. Like Little Sissy La-La which my friend called him when he was outside whining because he was too cold.

LOL! I had a Pyr that was quite deaf and I talked to him all the time. He didn't mind and he kept me sane with 3 ornery teen agers who listened worse than the dog heard!

He sounds like an absolute gem of a dog - very smart and very intent on pleasing you! I'm glad he's staying!!!

Oh, he is so sweet and so tiny! I am so very, very grateful that you saw him and rescued him. I'm sure he is too and will repay you for it the rest of his life.

As for names, I vote for Frosty. Seems appropriate.

Glad your not closer- I would take him! He is a cutey! I named my deaf homozygous merle Stormy (registered name was Winter Storm Warning).

I had a deaf/(almost totally)blind Aussie pup growing up. She was from a merle to cryptic merle breeding. The mom looked red and white, but was really a merle with very minimal dilution showing in her coat. Anyway, the man gave us the mom and the pup. We named the pup (a girl) Rooster. She was so rambunctious that she reminded me of Rooster Cogburn. She was a cool pup.
