Fleas.....

Help.....I need some non-toxic ways to get rid of fleas. We;ve never really had a problem with them but this fall my two, basically house dogs, got them...think from the outdoor dog my son left here when he moved back to the city. Arrgh. I vacumn the carpet and furniture daily...been bathing them weekly and flea combing. Driving my DH batty as he seems to be a taste treat for fleas. Really don't want to use Frontline or such. Lost a Corgi to heartworm medication. Thanks for your suggestions......DEE

Look at the other post about frontline that I replied to last night. I have it all in there.

Your fleas are living happily in your vacuum dirt bag.

You can kill the fleas by turning off the heat once winter sets in. You can also use a bomb. There are safer ways to get rid of them in the house though. Like, vacuum everything, furniture, curtains, carpeting and dispose of the vacuum bag, if it is a disposable, other wise it's going to depend on what kind of vacuum you have. As for the dog, put the dog bedding in the dryer on high for twenty minutes, then wash the bedding and dry on heat. Fleas hate lavender, so somehow get some on hubby. Lavender soap?

When you bathe the dogs, give them a vinager rinse to get rid of the fleas.

Dawn dishwashing liquid works great on dogs!!!! I lather it on really good, let it sit a little while and then just rinse it off.
