Talking Dog fence

Well we're finally getting a solid dog proof fence up. It will be 4 ft woven 2 x 4 horse fencing with big wood posts. I'll put wire over the gates too, and railroad ties under them. I can't wait! Hopefully Bunny Beagle will be content to stay in the yard. But I will have to watch for signs of digging. The aussie never leaves the property anyway, now she can run and play with the beagle. My other dogs are too old to run and play. I do have one problem dog. A little 20 lb mix who fights with one of the old dogs. She will have to wear a muzzle to go out. She will have to get used to it. Anyway, hopefully it will be up soon. Having a little trouble with the fence guy, he doesn't understand straight lines...and plumb posts Unfortunately my 4 y.o. apple tree will have to come down. It just started producing apples too. Mary.

If you notice them starting to dig at the fence line, a hotwire strung around the bottom will fix that. If no electric available, you can also line the fence with railroad ties and attach the bottom of the fence to that.

We had a neighbor dog that was always digging under the fence to get to my chickens so whenever I found one of his partially dug holes I started filling it with big rocks and then covering them with dirt. Eventually the whole section underneath was lined with rocks and there was no more problem.

MY dogs were digging in the yard and after I filled up the holes they would dig it back up. Someone here suggested filling the hole with dog poo and that they wouldn't dig there again. I have to say IT WORKS!!!!!!!! Thanks again to whoever gave the tip!!!

Yes, electric fence may be an option. Except for the gateways, hate to have to un hook every time I walk through.
