Soft spots on older pups skull

I have two tiny chihuahua puppies here that are about 9 weeks old, one of the puppies has a large soft spot about half the top of his skull, the other is just a small spot. You can see any swelling or any negitive effects, I only remember alittle bit about what a friend went though with her puppy, but it had fluid build up, without touch you cant even tell that its soft.
My question is should it form and close as the puppies get bigger or should I be looking for mini foot ball helmet.

It's called an open fontanelle. It's not uncommon in chihuahuas. I highly doubt that the large fontanelle will close, maybe the smaller one will. It's possible that one or both of the pups could develop hydrocephalus, and the pups will be more susceptible to traumatic brain injuries.

Chihuahuas are notorious for unclosed fontanelles. I have seen several adult Chihuahuas that had never closed. You have to be very careful that they don't bump their heads.

Is there any treatment, is it possible they can live a pretty normal life with being just a little more cautious?

We had a litter of Pom's in today (3 weeks old) 3 of the 4 had this same condition. The vet said it may close up may not...but didn't seem too concerned..said is was common in smaller breeds. If your really worried, get the helmet

No treatment that I know of. Most dogs live a completely normal life barring head injuries! Most of the ones I know are city dogs, so less likely to get injured (I've never actually seen an injury). Being a homestead dog might be a bit more hazardous.

these guys dont travel out of my bed room, the only forseen hazard is cats claws, the rest of their life is pretty sheltered, they are so tiny they just cant be full time figures in the family just yet, not sure if Im keeping both, but I feel bad because the other that stayed wouldnt have anyone to keep it company, and since the worse one of the two is the one I babysat on a trial period of adopting I have a feeling Im keeping him, I couldnt imagine some one else being able to handle it if he was to pass, hes tooooooo cute, pics soon.
