A Mouse Tale

A little background on my Phoebe kitty. Phoebe used to go out in her younger days but now is strictly indoors. She hasn't forgotten her hunting days as she loves to retrieve her (fake) mousies for us, chirping softly as she does so. She is a bit of a prima donna as she is the only one of four that sleeps on the bed at night. Any other kitty that strays upstairs gets to wreck her jealousy.

Well, last night was a windy night but through the creaks, groans and rattles of this old house I could hear extra noises in the bedroom next to mine. I sleepily thought if one of the cats is after a mouse I hope it catches it as there are many places to hide, die and smell in that room. Sometime later Miss Phoebe came to the bed and did she chirp, NO, she screamed at me! I used my cellphone light somewhat groggily to look for something on the bed. Meanwhile she kept on MEWING! It then entered my sleepy brain that
a) it might not be a dead mouse
b) it might not be a mouse
c) it might be a very large, live rodent on my bed!
Very much awake now, thank you very much, I turned the light on as I stood next to the bed. Yes, it was a mouse, very dead with one very proud Miss Phoebe wanting to play retrieve the mousie!

I am not going to go to work and tell (proudly) about my great hunter kitty tale but among those of us smitten with our furry friends I hope it can garner a chuckle and maybe some shared tales.
