Unhappy Nerve Paralysis

My dog has this and he is only 6yrs old. He is a lg. lab/rottweiler mix. Makes for a nice dog. We have been to the vet 3x's to find out what is wrong with him . Today we will take him to another vet for second opinion. We are dissapointed in this find. If he doesn't get better we may put him down. My H doesn't want a dog looking like that and suffering. He does have a hard time eating and we had to get him soft foods now. He was on dry food. Yes the paralysis affects his eating. Just thought I would let you know and see what you think..

its really hard to say if any of this will help without knowing and seeing the dog, I of course am not a vet but spend way to much time learning about alternitive medicines.
Without knowing if its a brain tumor, or swelling of the brain or spinal cord, I can suggest acupuncture and chiropractic care, and if that helps then possibly gold bead implants. But really, until the cause is found, theres no way to know how to treat it, or even if it can be treated.
Have you had xrays done of his brain and spinal cord?

I'm sorry to hear this. Did the vets try steroids? That helps some dogs.

Yes the dog has had xrays of his head not his spine or brain. they were checking his throat and esophagus and jaw. He also had blood work done. All ok..He is on steroids as of now and antibiotics. It has been a week and 3 days since we notice the change in him. We are still going to take him to another vet. Thanks for your replys..

Hi
Ok an update. So far after the other vets diagnosis, he has a probabilty of lymes. They took more blood tests and sent them to be checked. We will know as soon as they are ready. So he is on meds for lymes now. He is doing better too. He still has a sunkened head and his weight is still lost. Will update later...

That's good news!

It must be a great relief to see him get better. Hope he is feeling just fine, soon.
