my dogs ...grazing like cattle..

how much grass is too much? sure...my dogs have eaten grass when their tummy's are upset, but.......now that it's hot, they HAVE to graze. yesterday I sat outside with my shepherd while he ate grass to the extreme. I thought he'd be sick, but ...no. he did calm down after all that grazing. (ick) suddenly he was fine..ate his full meal, nose was cold again, loving guy. my question.....is it normal for dogs to eat alot of grass? or only sometimes? my husky also eats grass. they didn't do this last year, so I'm wondering what the cause may be. thanks!

i have 2 rescue dogs that have grazed like that forever it seems. one dog learned it from the other. i asked my vet about it as i was concerned they might be ill and not showing it. the vet assured me it is quite normal and that the dogs find the grass tasty and sweet.

after several years of watching them graze, i have no concerns any longer. they are fine. but i would exclude any illness if this is new behavior.

Mine seem to be eating more lately...I think it's because it's been so wet. They seem to like it after it rains or when it's dewy in the morning

My dogs eat grass every day. Usually it comes back up if they eat to much.

I would make sure there is no pesticides on the grass.

We've always called Coal our Grassfed Labrador. He gets everyone else doing it until it's like a herd moving across the lawn... LOL, I think he learned it from a goat we had, and it has just expanded from there.

Bella was eating grass today and then threw up a number of times! Once her tummy settled down I brought her in, she has a funky digestive system anyway...sheesh!
