MEAL Worms?

Any one raise them? My nephew wants to raise them, (read between the lines)His idea of pets is something you can feed once A month. He has 2 Tarantclas? right now. He buys crickets. But he thinks Mealworms would be better. Anyone ever raise them.? In other words he wants ME to raise them, I might do it but I would be feeding them to my cage birds if they would eat them. I know the chicks will. Any thoughts???

birds will eat them if they are conditioned to them, they are a waste(too much shell not enough meat) though and can cause impaction if over fed, a tarantula wouldn't have any issues with the shell though.
they are pretty easy to care for, during metamorphisis they go through a "juvenile" dormant stage then emerge as darkling beetles.

Thanks for the link. I had all the imfo A while back. But it went Awol. like A few other things. I just hope he will decide what he wants to do with this. I was thinking of trying them and Crickets for the poultry as A protein source.
