More Scur Problems

One of my sheep has a scur that is growing back towards his head. I can still slip a finger under it, is there anything preventative I can do to keep it from growing in further, or do I wait for it to actually be a problem?

If it's a true scur, it shouldn't be a problem. If it's a horn that was cut at one time and regrowing, it could be a problem if it continues to grow into his head.

I have this problem with my two goats. Someone did not know how to properly de horn.

The only Vet I could get to come out here, refused to re burn their horns. Kept saying they were scurs, which they are not. ( same Vet who won't lift a finger to handle the animals and the two vaccines she gave, abscessed)
Luckily the wether's like to butt heads hard enough to knock them off for awhile. Some times they bleed a little, some times not.
If this Vet did as I asked, there would be no issues. However, I just have to keep hoping, they keep knocking the horns off when they get tight to their heads.

If you have a good Vet in the area, have them properly remove the horns.

Any way to tell if they're improperly removed horns or scurs? His half brother's scur fell off recently.

My 4 horn ram broke one of his lower horns off at the skull when he was young. When the horn regrew it came back at an angle that had the horn growing towards his jaw. I cut the horn back with a rope saw -- the ram was none to happy, but it went quickly. I will have to continue to cut it as the horn grows, but the process was pretty easy. Have some stop bleed on hand just to be safe.

Horns will keep growing.... majority of the scurs will not.

My Katahdin/St croix/Droper has scurs. They are little hard nubs, that are just above his fur...but haven't grown in a year. They will never be an issue.
