Hide in trashbag- what do I do with it?

So we were able to save the hide, it is "cased" I'm thinking the term was- pulled off, not cut through the center. Until I can get it to the tannery, what do I do with it? It is a mess, fat, some blood in places....

Scrape as much muscle and fat as you can off the back side, then put it in the freezer... Wrap it tight to help keep freezer burn away.

Yup, if you can get it on a smooth, hard surface, shaped like an ironing board, you can scrape it. Pull the big chunks off and scrape the rest with a fairly dull bladed tool. An old garden trowel might work, you'd use the long edge and push away from you. Folks used to use a large spoon on smaller hides like muskrat.

Check You Tube for "fleshing" vids to get an idea.

Ditto on freezing it, hair side in, in an airtight bag if you can.
