Our first lambing need some advice

So, being brand new to this I hope someone can answer this question. Our dorset ewe just gave birth at 1 pm today. I was hoping she would have twins. So far at 4 pm nothing has happened. How long might it take for her to have the second if indeed she does.

Any advice would be helpful.

Also, I sniped and dipped the lamb and my wife and I both tried to strip the ewe to free the teats. Doesn't seem to be doing it.

She is a good mother and the lamb is trying to suck. I'm not sure she is getting anything.

To strip a teat, I put the top of the teat between my thumb and hand, making sure I got something into the teat and then sort of close your hand and squish it forcing the milk from it. That is probably a terrible explanation but suffice it to say, you have to get milk into the teat and hold it in the teat by the top before you try to push it out the bottom.

Is the lamb's tail going? That is a good sign of food.
has your ewe passed the placenta? It looks as though she is having only one. If she seems all calm, she is done. Second babies come a half hour to 45 minutes after the first one.

Also, if the lamb's mouth is warm, they are getting food.

That was due to her Daddy. He is a Rambouillet cross. The lamb is doing great. Healthy and happy is the way to be!
