It looks so bare!

Sold off the last of the lambs today. The pasture sure looks different with only 24 sheep instead of 61!

BTW, I sold them at Diamond, Mo and got $1.71 a pound.

That sounds like a fair enough price -what kind of sheep were they? I was reviewing our local weekly sales results and was surprised to see how much lower Barbados ewes went then the others. It might not be a fair comparison because they list the others by weight category and then lump the barbados as ewes/rams. And then the barbados rams I was surprised HOW much they went for.

PRices were:

Sheep Barbados
Feeder Lambs 40-60lb 1.30-2.05 Per lb Lambs n/t Per hd
Light Lambs 60-90lbs 1.50-1.85 Per lb Ewes 0.45-1.25 Per hd
Fat Lambs 90-120lbs 1.40-1.50 Per lb Bucks 1.20-2.45 Per hd

I believe where it says per hd on the barbados that the sheep were sold by the hd but then they recalculated the price per lb.

I have painted deserts which are similar to the barbados in shape/size/characteristics.

Horned rams could go as shooter rams, to be mounted for someone's trophy wall. Doesn't matter what color they are, as long as they have an impressive set of horns.

The painted deserts get impressive horns and I've seen all sorts of trophy pics of them. I fail to see the fun in hunting livestock...kind of like hunting a cow!

Yes, I'm glad we have polled sheep.

They were all mixed. All by a Katahdin ram though. They averaged 60#. I included the price in case anyone might be selling off their farm and wanted to know what some of the going prices were in this area.
