Loose minerals in Ontario?

The thread on mineral licks/blocks got me to thinking about what and where to buy (I don't have any sheep yet, moving to 22 acres in another month and then THERE WILL BE SHEEP!)

For those of you living in Ontario, Canada, what loose mineral mix do you buy and from where? And are there any good sheep supply stores in south-central ontario? I'm reading all the US supply catalogs and drooling, but the shipping would be ridiculous and Canadian TSC doesn't carry much besides dog food and bird seed in their farm department

Go to Grand Valley Fortifiers in Cambridge (south end of the city). They are very good about supplements (hence the name!). Or you could look up International Stock Foods on the internet and send them an email as to where the nearest dealer is. Their head office used to be in Cambridge but they've moved.

Or, find a feed dealer that carries Shurgain. That's the brand I buy, both sheep mineral and goat mineral. Basically, just find a good feed mill. Sharp Feeds is just east of Guelph, off of Guelph Line, if I remember correctly. Don't really remember what else is around Guelph.

So where you moving to?

Thanks! I've been checking labels at a few feed mills and I'm surprised by the number of SHEEP minerals that contain copper. Two of the places that I inquired about breeding stock use the horse blocks from TSC which also contain copper. So I thought I'd ask here to see if I could get a list of brands available in Ontario to compare ingredients.

We are only moving about 10 min from the current place, to a MUCH larger acreage on Guelph Line. Depending on how fast I can get fencing done, I hope to get a couple of Blackbelly and/or Katahdin ewes later this fall I had put a deposit down on 2 blackbelly lambs earlier this summer but had to pass once the sale went through. No point in moving them twice...

Don't forget, sheep do require some copper - just not as much as goats, cattle or horses.

Hope you're planning a big ol' house-warming party when you get moved!

Shurgain makes a loose mineral, look for a shurgain dealer.

Hey, all input is helpful Two votes for Shurgain Sheep Mineral is two more than I had before! No dealers really close by, but since mineral doesn't go bad, I'm sure I can make the drive every now and then. Thanks!
