I am going to be adding afew registered full dorpers to the flock this year, so would like to thin my commercial sheep..

Dorper Ewe, will be a year old around valentine's day. been with my fullblood dorper ram since July. not registered(so commercial) but is from quality, registered stock (parents were purebred).

Also have a december 2011 white dorper ram lamb, with a funny brown splotch over his one ear. his tail is banded, but he is still a ram (for now). his mother is one of my best ewes.

Im asking $200 for the ewes..and $125 for the ram lamb.

All are current on healthcare and easy keepin'.

Matilda on far left pictured in late April..current pics coming, we got rained on BIG time last night!

I'm by Coffeyville, KS. The twin was born March 5th and the triplet was born March 25th. I did not wean them with the wether-lambs because I wanted them to have a little extra time on the mamas. They will be weaned, tagged, and vaccinated before leaving the farm.

Market Wethers

I thought i'd post these wethers here just in case someone knows someone who might be looking. i have three really nice February born wethers that would be GREAT 4-H or FFA lambs $150 each or $125 each if all three are purchased. They would also be wonderful lambs to feed out and butcher. I had plans to take them to the salebarn earlier this month but had a lady beg me to hold them for her daughter to show. She ended up not coming to get them . I will be taking them to the sale the 2nd Tuesday of June for sure if no one comes to get them.

Someone should really buy these and use them for a 4-H or FFA project. We got two little ewe lambs from these folks and they are really nice lambs. They look like they are going to be full of meat, long bodies, and would show nicely in a shropshire or crossbred class. IMO Price is awesome if you have ever priced show lambs. A few years back when my kids were heavy into showing $500-1,000.00 was not uncommon. I would hate to see these guys just go to the salebarn.

Shadowfax, Call your extension office or the high school. They can give you numbers of 4-H leaders and FFA advisors or just folks that may be looking for lambs. There are kids out there that really want to do this but can't afford to give a lot for the lambs. These are good priced for quality.

I really hate to do this, but I have a Purebred registered
Dorper ram, originally from Crane Creek Dorpers for sale. I'm keeping his daughters and granddaughters this year, so he needs to find another place. He has great manners,(no ramming), takes care of his ewes, and will follow you forever, as long as you have a bucket in your hand. He stays with the flock year round, and I am getting 7 month turn-around on lambing. He was a twin, and I have been exceedingly happy with him. I'm getting twins and triplets, so he's got the juice! I paid $750 for him as a yearling, but would take $350 for him now. He has a lot of miles left in him. Used to having a LGD in with the flock. He handles like a wether. Photo is of the business end. I can get more photos as soon as I'm back on my feet. (surgery)

Also have son of this ram from Oct. 22, 2011. He's a twin, is not registered, but can be. Picture is on my other computer. Great dispostion, correctly marked, and loves girls already. $250 unregistered, $40 more with papers.

Icelandic sheep sale

We are making room for the next generation and have some nice stock for sale. Some of these are proven and could make a good starter/homestead flock for someone just wanting to start out with Icelandics.

Rams:

4 year old white ram, carries grey pattern. Horned. Excellent temperament - likes scritches but is respectful. Really nice fleece and conformation. Very good parasite resistance. We've used him for 3 years so time to move him on.

3 yearlings; two by the ram above, one unrelated. One is black grey, one is white, one is black solid. All horned. The black solid is proven - we used him last year as a teaser and to breed one of our ewe lambs. All have nice temperaments and good conformation.

Ewes:

Alana - proven 3 year old. Black solid, carries spotting, horned. Good mother, very nice conformation. Has lambed without assistance each time. Good parasite resistance. Thick fleece.

Aileen - proven 3 year old. Black solid, carries moorit and spotting. Horned. Very attentive mother, no problems lambing. Good parasite resistance. Very good conformation. Very dense fleece on this girl - she's a wooly mammoth. :-)

Kenya - proven yearling. Black grey spotted, horned. Good mother. Really nice wide stocky build; so far good parasite resistance. Nice fleece.

Aoife - yearling. Black grey (homozygous grey), horned. Will not be registered as she's just a little too narrow in build for what I'm looking for in my flock, but she has great fleece. The color is a very warm sort of beige/tan - very pretty!

See our website at Birchtree Farm - Registered Icelandic Sheep, Roving, Yarn, Fleece for photos, more info, and prices. We have discounted our prices and we are also offering additional discounts for purchases of three or more animals.

Got sheep?

I don’t, but I’d like to

I am looking for some ewes (would love it if they were bred, but will consider younger girls) to add to the farm. Would prefer hair sheep but will consider wool sheep as well. Not interested in pedigrees and papers- these ladies will be raising my future dinners. Please email me at ----earafarm@charter.net if you have any you’d be interested in selling or trading.
Located within an hour or so from zip 37890.

Thanks

Just wanted to update you. These girls look amazing right now. They have grown very well. We had to get some worm problems taken care of, some vitamin B12, and kept the feed to them and they are looking aweome. We are so impressed with them. I wish my GD were old enough to show next spring, these would make great ewe lambs to exhibit. Thanks! Some folks who show lambs missed out on the boys if these ewe lambs are any indication of the quality.

I'm thrilled they are doing well for you!!

We have been fighting parasites like crazy over here this year. I have never seen them this bad before.

I did get to sell my last 2 wethers (ones we had kept to butcher for ourselves) to a 4-Her just last week. They will be shown next March. I won't have lamb to eat this year but am thrilled to have some out there to be shown.

4-H lambs for sale.
These nice lambs didn't make weight for fair.

Stella- Full Sullfock ewe lamb, 3 1/2 months old. This lamb has a lot of potential, already weighing 90 pounds at 3 1/2 months. She would be good for breeding or meat later on. Nice, long lamb. I put a lot of work into her, completely halter trained, and sets up.

Rugby- Border Liecester wether, 3 months old. This lamb is very meaty, weighing a lot for his size and breed. He weighs 70 pounds at 3 months. He would be a good teaser wether, or a nice chunky meat wether. I put a lot of work into him, completely halter trained, follows you like a dog.

Western Nebraska, PM for more info.
