Risking the Gauntlet...

so, I was taking a break from doing a sheepdog demo at a Scottish Festival, when all of a sudden...

Risking the Gauntlet... - Sheep

The sheep all came to me for an ear rub. Now look at the fact that I have several of my Border Collies all around me on both sides of me, and yet -still they came in for an ear rub. (I must give some killer ear rubs for them to risk it) LOL

Here is a side view...

...well Ross, ...without fingers, what does your cow use to rub your ears, ...her tounge? (must feel kinda scratchy, like a cats tounge?)

Anyone in sight is risking a giant Holstein smooch alright. You'll learn where the term "cow lick" come from.

What border collie doesn't love their work

This reminds me of an old joke: What is the quietest animal in the world? A lamb trying to sneak past a border collie.

How did you get started doing demos? I don't have any fluff balls to show off with at the moment but it sounds like its a lot of fun.

Very nice! Is that eau de mouton you're wearing or was there corn stuffed in your socks?

Now - can get them to go up to the dog for a scritch?

I love lambs when they are naive about the dog! That's when my dogs turn into lamb-mothering surrogates! Last year I had a bummer lamb that my working Aussie took on as HIS charge, and they became best of friends. Then, when it came time to work sheep and that lamb was with the others, my dog ignored him and worked the rest! It really is fascinating!

Love the pics, and you have beautiful dogs, Slev!

How great! Could you post a calendar/dates of demos in the midwest that you'll be doing? It would be wonderful to be able to see, if close enough, and my knitting/spinning group is always up for a field trip. My flock is less than impressive and only goes where they're not sposed to go when company shows up
