Ram Housing During Rut

Situation is that my daughter got into raising Icelandic sheep this past year. They are beautiful creatures and she has three ewes, three ewe lambs, a ram lamb and a ram. She wants to separate the rams, not breed the ewes this year, and we will keep the rams at our farm (about 3 miles away). Although the rams are the most gentle & loving creatures on earth, I'm aware that they can get real ornery during rut.

My question is... if the rams are that far away from the exes, will they still want to fight and such. Right now they're good buddies and I wonder if I need to fence separate pastures for them and arrange for separate living quarters for each of them this winter.

Thanks-

They may still want to fight, but they usually work out a "pecking order" amongst themselves.

Boys always want to rough house but if they have good temperaments and not near the ewe's as you said, then they "should" be ok.
