REALLY newbie question

When do sheep sleep? I have had my Katahdins for several weeks and have yet to see them sleep. Laying around and chewing their cuds, sure, but not sleeping.

The reason I ask is that I caught them at 1:30 am playing king of the hill on my front porch. I thought they would sleep at night.

I think it depends on the weather and time of year. When it is hot, they will graze at night when it is cool. If it is a bright full moon, you can find them out eating at night also. Sometimes during the hot part of the day, I'll find them asleep in the shade in the afternoon In the winter when I do the barn checks, they might be asleep at 10, but up at midnight (especially when they have lambs). I figure they sleep when they are tiered....

When they can't think of any more mischief to get in to? Mine sleep around noon, under the old corn crib. Other than that I think they sleep at night, and that I've actually just woken them when I check on them.
