I delivered my first!

I was fearing the day that dh would be at work and I would need to step in. But I was ready!
The first lamb came easily and unassisted, but the second one only showed a head and one foot and I knew that i was going to have go in.
HOLY INTENSE EXPERIENCE!
I could feel within a few seconds that the foot was folded up under and jammed tight into the pelvic bone. I got the lamb's head and one foot back up inside enough to be able to unfold the leg, and it wasn't easy. But, I did it!!
And, out she came. And I cried. lol
I was soooooo relieved, after having such a horrible night on Friday (losing a ewe and one baby).
My faith has been restored. lol

Yeah the first few are. It gets to be a little bit routine/ almost a bother. If you're having more assisted birthings you might have a fat ewe/ poor muscle tone problem. I try to get my flock out running to thier feedings of grain daily. The number of assisted births has dropped to near zero here since.

Baptism through fire, it's the only way. You did good. When you are missing a foot, run your hand down the lamb's neck to the shoulder and find the leg that way. Otherwise, you may end up thinking the pelvic bone is a leg (ask me how I know this) And, if the head is too big, pull one leg further out, rotate the head so it is N & S.

Also, for those of us with dial-up, please don't post five enormous photos in one post.
