DeWormers E. MO/W. IL

I was wanting input from sheep herders in E. MO and W. IL on what types of dewormers they are using and having good results with.

I have 4 Kathadins and 2 wool X under a year old. I had a vet run a fecal and she said she saw a lot of Stonglyes, but couldn't give me an exact count. She just said it was high. (I didn't have ind. samples but at $18 a pop I don't think I could afford it - microscope on the wish list!)

I checked the eye lids when I trimed the feet and several were pretty pale. I had been seeing clumpy poo but with the amount of rain I didn't want to deworm until I knew what I was dealing with.

TIA.

Not sure about your particular parasite load, you would have to check labels for specific.

We use a valbazen drench alternating with a ivermectin injectable. The injectable is not labeled for sheep but lots of sheep folks use it.

Rotating pasture in conjuction with worming helps too. Close grazing makes a paradise for parasites.

Do you want natural or synthetic dewormers?

I have been using Molly's hebals but since I feed as a group I am not certain who is getting the proper dosage. I am open to either.
I have Cydectin Cattle Pour On already for the goats when I gave in to the dark side this past spring. I plan on sending some to freezer camp later in the fall.
I do have a pasture rotating system to use in conjuction with dewormings.

I really need to deworm and have been reading labels and I see Stronglyes only listed on - Privermectin Sheep drench (which is the ivermectin family) and the injectable ivermectin. Does anyone know the slaughter time withdrawls on the invermectin. I reread the label twice and unless I am blind (possible since I am tired) I don't see that noted.

Withdrawal time noted on the Injectable Ivermectin is 35 days.
