Burdock??

I just got my first sheep and right now they are going to be in a smaller temporary pen, but I plan to move them to a larger fenced area that has some burdock in it. Should I pull the burdock?? How much of a problem is it in their coat?

They are Jacob ewes and a Jacob/Icelandic cross ram so they should like to eat the brush etc. I just don't want to make a mess of their fleece....

Those little burrs can make huge matted tangles in the fleece. I'd get rid of all the burrs before I put the sheep in.

I agree....BIG PROBLEM!! As the others said, get rid of it and burn it. And, they'll find any little piece you leave behind. It's terribly hard to get out once it's in and will completely ruin the fleece and it doesn't feel good to them either.

Just imagine getting some in your hair.....owwww

Been there way too many times! My hair is long, thick and frizzy-- not fun. It seems this place should have been called Burdock Acres. I spent most of the day yesterday cutting, pulling and burning burdock. Actually, I've spent the last 4 years pulling burdock. Thankfully, the pigs like to eat it, but now it's just dead, brown and nasty so they won't....
