Price per pound or head?

I was wondering what folks are getting for their lambs this year? I sold some in Missouri the other day and they ranged from .93 per pound to 1.10 per pound. I do know that my no banding experiment cost me quite a few bucks over all so my next batch of ram lambs will get banded. It's cheap and ez to do and not worth the loss per pound.

Hell I'm coming over to your state to sell. Average price here in California is less than .8 cents a pound. You average out at about 80 on all your lambs. That's at th auctions though. Through private sells I do per head at $150 a lamb. It's more than at the auction but it ususally entails more labor on my part as I will drive their lamb to the local butcher if they want me to. They also know where the lamb is coming from, I think that is worth the extra bucks.

I'm in Northern California and we get $1.05-$1.20 a pound on average at the sale barn. $175 for suffolk and hamp lambs at the ranch.

Ive never sold any at an auction. I sell by the head for $130 for lambs that are usually 80-100 lbs, and they do their own processing so Im just handing them a live lamb. Ive also sold 3 breeders this year for $250 each ( 62% Registered Dorpers) With corn price going up because of the popularity of Ethanol, Ill probably be asking $140 for the next batch that should start arriving in January. I imagine auction prices would be lower here in Eastern NC
