dead baby

I have a doe that just kindled with one baby. It was born dead but seems to be otherwise big and free of deformities (not a peanut).

So I had another bunny kindle last Friday with four healthy babies. Should I put two of those onto the mother who kindled with the dead baby?

Also, she was a day past her due date. Could this have anything to do with it?

Super bummed.

Friday I had two does kindle...one had 11 and the other had 8, Saturday I had a first timer kindle 6, Sunday I had another first timer kindle 1 and it was in the nest but not in the fur it was dead and she hadnt pulled a lot of fur....Monday she did the same thing had another kit but it was on the wire but she had pulled tons of fur. I took two kits from the doe with 11(these might be runts but they werent getting enough milk) I almost put them with the doe that had 6 but since she was a new mom I didnt want to mess her up and get her upset because she was doing so good.

I decided to try the doe who lost her two kits. I had noticed that she seem kinda depressed not eating as well etc yesterday morning. I took the two kits and put them in the deep fur, she popped off her table and got into the box to check them out.....this morning and tonight the kits are still alive with full bellies and more fur pulled. She has the two of them so buried it takes a few minutes to find them. She seems a lot happier and sweeter..lol

Personally since your other doe only has 4, I wouldnt move them...it is hard for two to stay warm. The only reason why I did what I did was because they werent getting fed as well because there was 11 of them and the doe had a lot of fur. I took a chance and it doesnt mean that something wont happen but for now they are doing good.

Unless these are smaller breeds and not meat rabbits, I would leave the 4 with the mother and rebreed the mom that lost her's immediately. Most meat breed does can handle 8 or more kits, so I would rebreed. I have a litter born Sunday that was the result of a doe that did not take and rebred within a few days of knowing she didn't have kits. I have also rebred does that had just a few within days and fostered the small litter to other does.

Thank you both for your responses!
This is a Polish rabbit and it is not her first litter, she has had many before. I'm worried that I did something wrong. Maybe I fed her too much--I've heard that when they get fat problems happen....
