The bunny fairy came!

Hello every one
I hope all of your rabbits are doing well.
I had a liter of kits born last Thursday night. I found them Friday morning. I do not like to mess with them much when they are first born. I just feel around to make sure that they are warm and take out any that are not.
I only felt about 4-5 . Every day I checked on them and only felt about 4 or 5 kits. That would be a small letter for this NZW doe. But 4-5 kits is better than none right!
Well today I decided to count them and look them over real good.
what a shock I got...I had a hard time counting them , they where jumping up and down and making tiny pig noises. I had to count them over and over but there are 10 or 11 kits. Oh my goodness. No wonder the mama has been so hungry. Thank goodness I have been giving her plenty to eat. Every morning she is at the hutch door stamping her feet even though I had felled her feeder late the night before..
Ok I now what you guys will say... Where are the pic??? Ok OK So I ran out and took one. I can count 11 in the pic. how many do you count?

Aaaaaaaaaah! So lucky and so cute! I love it when they popcorn and squeal even though it makes them hard to count. It means they are healthy and strong!

I count 11 too.... How great! I have only gotten one litter that big so far. It looks like she might have taken her time giving birth to them (although with 11 is it any wonder???) since some of them look like the have distinctly more fur than others.

I hope she's getting extra alfalfa and dandelions today! She'll need it with all those mouths to feed!

Yes I picked her fresh dandelion and collard greens this morning before I looked in on the new little guys. She is a happy mama. That is her third litter this year. She is a good girl.

What a great breeding doe, this is how my hubbys favorite became his favorite(a good nuturing doe who kindled lots of kits),lol, and she's a white too.

Is yours blue or red eyed? If you have any BEW kits, I'm jealous

Loving all the little white wigglers.
Happy Breeding Everyone

I only have red eyed NZW. My buck is half NZW and half California. He is a hunk of meat. He has red eyes too. I am going to replace him with a NZW so that I will just have pure bred rabbits.
I like what someone said last week about crossing a rex with a NZW. That sounds neat to me. But I do not know if I have time to tan hides??

Feedbuns; I think it was me talking about crossing the rex since that's what I do... But tanning hides is a pretty slow and easy process. You mix the mixture, put them in it for a week, strip the flesh, put them in it for two weeks, then you throw them in your dryer and work each hide a little to soften them up. Then you brush them and they're pretty much done. It's a long process but not really labor intensive as far as I'm aware.

I think I might try that.
Is the mixture exspensive?
