Update on breeding problem

So, the does were not getting bred & when they did they had only 1 or 2 babies.

I got a new buck & 3 new does from my brother. I had my new buck breed my old does & used my buck to breed the new does. They all have babies but one now & she is due soon. Maybe my old does just didn't like my buck. He had no problem breeding the new does & my old does got bred fine with the new buck. So, maybe it was just a case of not being attracted to my buck.

Attraction from one rabbit to another has nothing to do with fertility.

how closely related are your original stock>? how long have you had them, where did you get them, did they ever breed correctly before?

So why did they not breed with my buck, but did with the new buck? And why did my buck breed fine with the new does, but not the does I had?

They are not related at all & are all less than 1 1/2 years old. I have had them almost a year & they had all had babies before I got them. I had a buck (unrelated) & was getting no one bred with him. I got a new buck that was unrelated from a friend & they were also not getting bred by him. He had successfully bred all of my friend's does. A couple of them did get bred & they were only having 1-2 babies at a time. No change in anything except the farm they were living on. Food is the same as what they were getting. Used my new buck on the does I had & they have all had 7-10 babies each. Used my old buck on the new does & they have all had 7-8 babies each. So the old buck I had was/is fertile, & the does I had were/are fertile as they all have babies now.

Just don't understand why my buck was not getting my does bred. He had no problem with the new girls & they all got bred when I used the new buck on them.

there are several things that can effect the fertility ;tempiture , weight ,and feed quality are obvious culprets . but heres another theory things like just having another buck or doe in the rabbitry emmiting pheromones or oders may kick the reproduction system into another gear .
