First butcher and eat

I butchered my first self raised rabbit and ate it for dinner last night. I've had many a wild rabbit but this was my first domestic. Here are some pics of the event. Definitely a super delicious dinner. All I did was cook in oven with some olive oil and garlic pepper, mashed potatoes and green beans. Definitely more in 1 rabbit than me and my fiancé could eat. I was thoroughly surprised just how big these guys are dressed out. These are Californians and 9 weeks old

Couldn't find my good game shears so the head removal was a little tough.

Very tasty, and much better than wild rabbit-some of those suckers are pretty tough!!

My one dog really enjoyed the ears. I boiled the heart liver and kidneys and all the dogs gobbled them right up!!

I am generally a just see how it goes cook. I think the oven was around 400-425*F and I was cleaning up from the butchering but I'd say was probably 30 min or less. Somewhere around there anyways. Definitely seemed to cook faster than chicken. I pulled everything but the back and rear legs sooner, as those took a little longer

for easy head removal...pull the skin until it is peeled back off of the neck. Use a sharp knife and cut the muscle around the neck. grasp the head firmly and TWIST at the same time pull a bit....the head should twist right off. If you are skinning the head for a dog...leave the head attached until you remove the skint and then follow the same procedure...it is a little bloodier this way but is an easy way to behead a rabbit.
