What are these rabbits?
These pics were taken a few days ago, rabbits were very wiggly and active, thus they are stretched out. They are roughly 8-10wks old. They are supposed to be New Zealands.
People from RT.com forum, please do not comment! I want fresh, unadulterated comments and opinions. Thanks!
Doe 1.
Buck 1.
'Black' doe. She has some browning on her forehead and some browning coming down her shoulders. That's new fur, on her rump is baby fur. Not sure what to call it, no Sun here to bleach her.
'Opal' doe. Yes there's tanning here and there.
Broken legged buck, no tanning.
'Red' buck, not as red as I see others have, there's brown on him, too.

They're probably just meat mutts. My NZW buck gives brown agouti kits when crossed with a coloured doe. They sure are gorgeous! I would just love an opal doe and that reddish buck. He looks like a dingo!

Thats not red, thats chestnut.
Otherwise I don't know. New Zealands are only supposed to come in black, broken, red and white, and when I say red, I mean more like rust, or bright sorrel. the color is the whole hair shaft and the only white permitted is on the underside of the tail and the bottom of the feet. There should be no eye circles either.

They look like Flemish or Flemish NZ crosses. How much do they weigh? They look big. My Flemish have those super long ears and they come in all kind of colors.

No idea on weight, black doe has some weight to her. Rest are small, pics make them look like big rabbits, but they really aren't.

They NZ kits I've had looked less "lanky" than these do.
If the pictures aren't good representations of what the rabbits actually look like, then I'm commenting on the PICTURES, not the rabbits as I've not seen them in person.

1-4 & 7 look like the rabbit. Any where the rabbit is looking around or moving is giving the wrong picture. I took the other pics in the Sun to get an idea on their actual colors.

They are all very narrow in the shoulders which indicates semi-arch body type, rather than commercial body type. They also seem to have very long ears for their size. I wouldn't disagree with the suggestion of flemish giant crosses. Flemmies come in some weird colors, which would explain that end of it.

They look kind of boney for NZ and a bit of a mandolin type? American or American Blue cross?
I almost see a faint blue tort pattern in some?

Meat mutts- last one has that fuzzy look that Rex crosses can have, and the heads and bodies look like young Rexes, not NZ's. They are too lanky looking to be pure NZ's, and you've got colors that shouldn't be in NZ's but are common in Rex, such as opal and maybe blue chinchilla. Chestnut on the other hand is common in NZ's. You could breed them together, if you get Rex coats then you know what they are. As for the seller buying them back its a buyer beware kind of world, they themselves may have been told they were NZ's, some folks really have no idea what the breeds look like. I personally wouldn't buy rabbits back from a buyer, but I would not have told you they were NZ's either. You could start with them, if your only breeding for meat and get better rabbits later.

The last one's coat does kind of look like a rex mix. The gray one before it has a coat texture like my Jap Harlequin, nothing like a NZ.

I don't think they are "meat" anything. They are too slim and long bodied.
My meat rabbits always look round, at every stage of growth.
Pretty bunnies, though.

Put up an ad for mutts, since the breeder hasn't contacted me back about taking them. Should have them gone by 4pm today!
