Hmmm, I don't have an alarm. The whole thing is pretty frightening really, and so misguided. If these people are so concerned about animal welfare, they should go after large confinement operations before they start in on a small rabbit farmer - just pathetic. Not to mention the trespassing and stealing.

In the late 80s a mink farm in England was "liberated" and the ones responsible for turning all the mink loose sang it from the hill tops until they realized what their ignorance on mink and their habits actually meant when over 1000 of them were suddenly set free. Most of them promptly set upon each other in to the death fights and the few that survived that had to survive the cold and wet so slowly died of exposure. Of the very very few survivors all that one can say is the English wildlife wasn't ready for savage mink! Entire ecosystems are being decimated by the descendants of that so called rescue!
Then they denied ever setting foot near a mink, never mind turning them loose.
Fanatics cant be reasoned with or taught, just garded against

Cheers to whoever rescued these animals. I hope they are rehabilitated and released back into the wild. Far, far away from blood thirsty PMC.

The Vegan police link was . . . unbelievable, to say the least.
The person who wrote that article obviously has no idea what he is talking about when it comes to raising rabbits.
He also willfully, joyfully ignores facts when they are presented to him, and while he says he wants politeness, he's rude to those who post comments.
Ah well. At least he doesn't delete the comments he doesn't agree with, as many political sites do.

I only posted the Vegan police link because I think it is good for people who raise rabbits or any animals for meat to know that people like this are out there. In some communities more than others - lol. Not much different from any radical ideologue - immune to reason and gray areas, and also hypocrisy. Criminy.

Please don't think that I was criticizing you or the quality of your links!
No, mine was a critique of the author's so-called "thought processes," or whatever you want to call it!

Last summer I had someone get into my yard and let all my rabbits out of their hutch. I went outside to feed them to find them hopping all over the yard. Thankfully my rabbits were used to being picked up and didn't fuss when I gathered them all up.
I lost one baby from that incident i'm guessing from the fall from the hutch door to the ground, and i lost one female to unknown reasons that day. I'm unsure if it was some neighborhood kid trying to nap himself a bunny and got scared or if it was someone with a more malicious intent (like killing them) since SOMETHING had been done to that doe but i'm unsure of what.
I will be putting a lock on the hutch this year when i move my rabbits outside again. None were stolen, but i lost two perfectly good rabbits to that indecent. Don't think it would be one of those "vegan police" kind of people but this article reminded me to secure my backyard a little more. Also moving the hutch out of direct view of the road this year too.

Its bloody anoying that we not only have to keep our rabbits safe from all the normal dangers but we have to keep in mind this sort of thing too

Update.
"PORTLAND, Oregon (AP) — More than a dozen rabbits that were reported stolen the night before a rabbit-cooking class have turned up at an adoption agency in Portland, Oregon.
The rabbits were returned to farmer Levi Cole after 17 of them disappeared on Jan. 7. Cole reported the theft on the night before he taught a class on raising, slaughtering and cooking rabbits.
Cole says he believes political motivation was behind the theft, although police have no suspects.
The rabbits were found at adoption agency Rabbit Advocates, and one had been adopted by the time police arrived. Rabbit Advocates did not return a call Friday.
Portland Meat Collective owner Camas Davis says it's is the first time this has happened to the group."

I hope they charge the "adoption agency" with receiving stolen property.

Reading that kind of stuff makes my stomach hurt! Dont they eat? Breath? WALK for goodness sakes? About the only thing this kind of person can do to stop killing things is to kill themselves but then, I guess thats not as much fun as making trouble for folks just trying to do right by themselves and their animals
Must remember to air out my sky clothes next time I preform my ritual murder - lol.

It was probably one of the nuts who is involved with them that was the main culprit. And they should also be charged with obstruction if they don't give details on exactly who turned in the rabbits.

Not surprised this is happening, if it wasn't "political" then it was folks starving. As more and more lose jobs the chances of animal theft will sky rocket. If you're smart you will learn from this poor guys ordeal and better protect what you own. Luckily I am small time so my rabbits are 10 feet from my house and my dogs are over protective at night. Its kinda cute to see a small 8 pound dog "patrolling" every 30 minutes haha.

Livestock theft is up over 40% from last year and over 60% from three years ago.
And your little 8 pound dog is a great deterrent. My nit wit dog only barks at us LOL.
