If you see the rabbits do the act...

So I bred my doe and buck last weekend. I watched the buck complete the act a total of 6 times in 2 different sessions spread out about an hour apart. It was the first time for both the doe and the buck. If they do the deed successfully is conception a lock? I hear others have had tough luck in the winter. Thanks

Breeding issues in the winter are usually more due to not being able to GET them to breed. Summer is when you can have sterility issues and does won't "catch", even if the buck "does the deed" right. If he grunted, fell off/back, etc...six times, chances are good that she is bred. I would give it 10 to 14 days and then palpate.

Is the doe healthy? Is she old enough to breed? Is she overweight? I ask because those would be a few factors that might prevent her from breeding. If not, chances are good.
Good luck!

The doe is about 7 months and the buck is about 6 months. Both are healthy and not overweight. He did fall off the back like he passed out for a second although I do not remember him grunting. I will palpate 10 days after breeding and see if I can figure it out. One othe question, since he is 6 months I was planning on having him breed my second doe this weekend. That would be about a week apart between breedings. At his age is this spread out enough to allow the sperm count to rebound or should I wait longer? Thanks again to all.

she's likely bred. If she's not, its because she did not ovulate, or he is not yet producing live swimmers. She's probably bred.

Being that the buck is 6 months old, should he have enough sperm by this age?

I have never had a problem with this except this past summer, and the heat made all my bucks sterile. He should be able to service two does, 3-4 couplings each on the same day.
