Off Topic: Alternate interests

We all enjoy the "keeping & breeding" of rabbits. Yet, I'm sure we all have other interests and endeavors.

Here is mine. Visit my website. You may enjoy what you find.

Thank you for taking the time to visit. The novel has been available since October 26th. Already, I've gotten positive reviews.

Your novel may have received positive reviews in appropriate group. And I'm going to assume you are very nice man who is enthusiastic about his new book.

But as for how it relates to "keeping and breeding" of rabbits, this message smells like spam. At least one could have spent some time writing an interesting intro instead of "Visit my website. You may enjoy what you find."

Come on! Be a writer!

Have a good day!

wrong, R-geek.

i just wanted to share another interest with this group. keeping and breeding rabbits fill only a small part of our day.

writer? yes, i am. and NO it doesn't relate to rabbits in any form. take the time...it's a historical romance novel. nothing spammy about that. if it bugs you.....report it and one of the mods can remove it. (if they find it offensive or harmful)

nothing negative was intended. if you take offense...........sorry. i was only trying to share something a little different.

the only "spam" i'm capable of is what you slice and fry in a skillet. i'm not that computer literate.

i've raised rabbits and written for over 35 years. i've had articles published in monthly magazines that are international in circulation. i write for our newspaper quite often. i wasn't trying to "toot-my-own-horn"...only share.

the one time i try to share something different with this group......someone tries to climb down my throat. i visit a lot.......but post very little.

I didn't take it as spam... but perhaps that is because I am a writer too. It's hard, lonely work and now and again one wants to talk about it.

thanks, maggie.

i realize that this forum isn't the place to "really get into it" about writing. but, i just tried to share an interest beyond our fuzzy friends. they take but a small portion of my time.

i belong to another forum with 24,000+ authors and writers that are world-wide.

i also moderate another forum for trappers here in missouri. there's a little over 1400 members on that site (try babysitting that group!!). i trap during the fall and winter months for furbearers here in my state. i remove numerous nuisance animals for landowners through the off-season.

i'm an elected member of the CCR-3 school board.

i raise 3,000-5,000garden plants every spring to sell to the public, and i operate and maintain a 14,000 sq. ft. market garden, selling produce to the public.

i retired from Armco Steel w/22 years service.

i'm the father of six-boys and four-girls w/the youngest one turning 18 his last birthday.

the last three sons (full-brothers) were adopted 18 years ago. they are african/american. my wife and i are caucasion.

like i said..........rabbits take only a little time. other than that.......i'm a man of leisure. and i don't know what in the he## "spam" is!!!!!!!

like i said above.......i wasn't trying to toot my own horn.

Spam usually doesn't belong where it's posted, generally points toward a company or group rather than an individual and tries to sell something or push an agenda that doesn't belong. It would be nice if there were a section on here for other personal interests (if there is I've missed it). Several sites I visit have a section for other interests and miscellaneous topics off the main topic of the site. I think your first post would be spam since there's nothing other than the book for sale and your second post is more the personal interest/miscellaneous - just my opinion.

Dear Grumpy,

Thank you for your reply. My intent was to challenge the writer to tell me why I should click on the website.

The second message you posted was more interesting and made me want to click over to the other site to see what another member was doing. You were sharing.

My apologies for the unfriendly tone in my previous message. As you know it can be difficult to convey intent in text messages.

Congratulations on the completion of your book and best wishes for its release.

Have a good day!

don't take it the wrong way grumps, that people are giving you a hard time. We all enjoy hearing and reading about the lives of the members on this forum, but you posted saying you wanted to share something non-rabbit with the people here. Well, thats why HT has many forums to chose from. If you wanted to share your book with the people of HT, and receive different responses, then you should be posting in the Countryside Families, or the Book Reveiw section, rather than the rabbit section. The people in this particular room, would rather hear about the rabbits you say you raise, or the articles you have written about rabbits. That is why they visit the rabbit section.

well, well, well, i've learned something new, today. i've never truly scoured this site as much as i should have. MY apologies. the only portion i've ever came to is this section. (other than a couple of gardening posts) past that, i've not investigated. i had no idea there was a section about newly written novels. thanks.

the underlined portion above is something someone could take exception to. operating a 30 doe rabbitry would qualify my saying i raise the rabbits i say i'm raising. that sounds a bit redundant, doesn't it? LOL.

but, once again, apologies extended to those offended.

i'll quietly leave this "room". hope everyone had a pleasant holiday.

franco: thanks for your pleasant second response. i cautiously watch the site i moderate. i'm vigilant and always cautious about newcomers and some of the "odd" posts they occasionally leave behind. being the type of site that it is and the "sport" that it is associated with, my "delete" button gets used quite frequently.
