I must be the crazy rabbit lady....

Today I picked up 10 square bales of hay for my rabbits!! lol! I feel like a nut for some reason. I have them stacked and tarped in my backyard in town like its a totally normal thing. Neighbors are really going to look when I pick up the 10 straw bales I have coming next.

Tomorrow I am driving 3 hours away to get some rabbit cages. I don't know if you all saw on CF but I got a great deal on some all wire hang type cages. I got a long cage divided into three sections for $40. Each section being 30 x30 inches. So $40 gets me three 30 x 30 cages and each has a j feeder! I am getting 6 long ones total which will be 18 cages. That should keep me going for a while.

I am also selling 12 rabbits tomorrow. All the ones I got for free, a few I picked up at auctions (like when there was two in a box and I just wanted one) and a couple that just don't fit here. Total cost for the 12 rabbits was about $30 and I am selling them all for $115.

So I my plan is to get home with the cages tomorrow night and then make racks to put them on on sunday. I want to make portable racks I can put in in the winter and pull out in the summer. I am going to get some tin for either dirt cheap or free and make a slope under each cage. The slope will go into an eavestrough that will drain into a bucket. My plan is to scrape the eaves everyday and once a week wash it all down and let it drain into the bucket. I can get a 10 foot chunk of new plastic eaves for $8 where I work. And I am pretty sure if I go and fish the tin that has blown into the creek out of the creek I can have it for free. Also an 8 foot 2x4 stud is only $1.69 and I wont need piles of them for the frame.

Well, your location is listed as Loon Lake so perhaps you could be the loony rabbit lady?

Tell your neighbors the straw and hay bales are for fall decorations, perhaps? Does Canada have the same Halloween and Thanksgiving decorations that is common in the United States?

Will you be saving the bunny poo for your garden? I've had folks interested in buying it as fertilizer.
