kit delivery

I have a NZW who had just 2 kits today. When she lays down, i can see her stomach moving around like there is a kit moving around in there. She had the kits about 3 hrs ago. Is it possible that she could still deliver another, or could this be post delivery contractions? Do they always deliver all kits at the same time all at once?

No, they do not always kindle all the kits at the same time. It is most common for them to do so, but sometimes the kindling takes place over a 24 hour period, or even longer. I'm not certain of the reason for this, but I suspect that it may happen if the doe conceives separately in each of the two horns of the uterus.

Did you rebreed the doe perhaps hours apart on the same day... or even the following day? Please understand that this is just a guess as to the reason... I've never actually had this happen with my rabbits.

If the doe does not seem in distress, I would just keep an eye on her and let nature take its course. If problems become evident, start a new emergency thread to get advice quickly.
