NZ or Cali wanted

I am looking for some NZ rabbits to try a breeding project with. I don't know of anyone who still breeds them in Tioga County, PA. DH works in Elmira, NY so if it's around there that would be fine too. I checked the breeders list but there aren't any NZ's or Cali's on it.

Are you looking for show quality? If not, I would ask at the feed store....those breeds are very common and I suspect somone close by will have them. You might also find the closest rabbit club and email the secratary, I went that wa once to find a certain breed. I have found that the feed stores are the best place, though, there are usually lots of people around that have them, just not many people know about them.

One final thing that often works good, is to put an add on Craigs list. NOT in the "wanted" section, but in the "farm and garden" or "general" section. Something like "WTB, NZW or Cal rabbits"

I have an ad on craigslist, The only people around here that have NZ'z and talk about it are the ones that show and they want insane prices IF you aren't in 4H. There used to be a couple pel-freeze rabbitries in my county but they closed shop about 5-10 years ago. I posted this hoping someone local would see and email me.

My CL post resulted in nothing so far. I am hopefully getting 6 cali/flem popples for $100 in May. That's $50 less than she was originally asking for. I'm really hoping to get a couple girls out of it. They will only be 2 months old (in May) and I would love to get a few breeders asap. I've been checking the binders in the feedstores, but they never throw anything away and haven't found any current NZ or Cali breeders. I think part of the problems is that it is almost Easter. Hoping to have better luck finding good deals after easter.
